If you have ever been interested in Freemasonry, you may have come across the encrypted phrase: 2B1 ASK1
This simply translates to: To be one, ask one.
Every Mason that you know and have ever heard of, at the beginning point of his Masonic journey, asked the question “How do I become a Freemason?”
As Freemasons, we do not recruit members, for the simple reason that we are not looking for “members”. We are looking for Brothers. There are thousands of men living a Masonic life of virtue, integrity, and honesty, who are not yet Masons.
Masonry is a fraternity, a brotherhood. An implication of belonging to a brotherhood is a desire to support and strengthen your friends and brothers. Simply put, would you rather have a brother who truly wants the best for you - or one who needs to be convinced why he should want the best for you?
Further, Masonry is a fraternity with a purpose, and that purpose is to become a better Man - for himself, his family, his God, and his community. Modern psychology informs us that in order for any person to be better, they have to want to be better themselves - nobody can do it for them. This is another reason why YOU must ask to be a Mason, no other Mason can do it for you.
Therefore, if you are interested in Freemasonry, YOU have to take the first step - We will be here when you do...
