Sunny Friday greetings to you all. So our school gardening club have been busy over the last couple of weeks. We've planted strawberries ( gifted by a parent ), Potatoes and wild flower seeds for Earth Day last Wednesday. The children planted salad pepper seeds ( another parent gift ) and took them home to nurture , ready in time for our village show in Sept.
I'll take some pics at lunchtime.

That time of year again 🎃 pumpkins make delicious soups or pasta sauce. X

My recipe for delicious pumpkin soup. X

Peel and cut into chunks and put the pumpkin on a roasting tin and drizzle with oil and black pepper and roast until soft.

In a large sausepan add one large onion 2 carrots and a stock cube (I use knorr chicken) and either 2 large potatoes cubed or 250g of red lentils whichever you prefer
and cover with water simmer until cooked.

When the Pumpkin is roasted and soft add to the sausepan and liquidise the soup if its too thick just add extra water.

If you have it a very small amount of grated nutmeg added to the saucepan when cooking really does enhance the flavour of the pumpkin soup. Enjoy. X

Any left over soup freezes really well and it makes great pasta sauce too just sprinkle with cheese.

Pumkin seeds are delicious roasted with salt and pepper for about 20 minutes but kept stirring and watch them as the burn easily.

Thank you to everyone who braved the unusually cold September village produce show day. You duck hunters did good....a few hiccups today 😅😂🤣 but enjoyable I hear...think some of the locals took ' HIDING ' to the extreme this morning 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐

Sunny Tuesday morning greetings to you all. Hope you are all well. Just a reminder, like you needed one 🤣, it's our village produce show this Sunday 14th September.
How are your veggies doing?? If you still need a schedule/ entry form they are available from various places around the village. There's boxes outside the village hall, the WI. hall and inside the club. If you would like one e-mailing to you drop me a message on here or E-mail me on [email protected]
Until we change this page to a group please can you post pictures of your goodies on my comments... It'll spur some folks to have a go...
The community group will be selling duck treasure hunt sheets 10-1pm on Sunday outside the village hall. Some of the ducks may already be hiding around the village... keep your eyes open 👀

Here is my Mother in laws Apple Chutney Recipe . It's very easy even the cat can do it. It's in pounds and ounces that's how OWLD it is 🤣
APPLE CHUTNEY
Ingredients
3lbs Apples
1/4lb Onions
1/2lb Sultanas
2oz Mustard Seeds
1/4oz Fresh Ginger diced small
3/4lb Brown Sugar
1pint Malt Vinegar
S&P
METHOD
1) Dice apples ( peel if you have time , i personally don't unless skin unsightly ) add to the vinegar and boil . Bruise with wooden spoon until pulpy.
2) Leave to go cooler.
3) Add all other ingredients.
4) Add to jars that have been washed , dried and sterilized in a hot oven for 10 mins.
5) I usually leave this to mature .
Enjoy with roast Pork, Sausages, Chicken and Turkey . Also good with Cheese and Biccies
