Rugby Rotary have started having a coffee morning on the first Tuesday of every month at Anya Court Care Home( a corporate member) on Dunchurch Road, Rugby. Each month has a theme with goodies for sale to raise money to cover the cost of printing the recipe booklets for our 4 For Four food programme. So far we have provided nearly 300 food packs with recipe booklets which have been distributed to families in need by local schools. The food is donated but the recipe booklets require money to pay for the printing.
It was great today to see residents and their visitors and Rotarians enjoying a cuppa and a chat.

Gentleman please share with your ladies and ladies please share with your friends.

This is a new venture raising funds for the '4 For Four' food project but also a regular opportunity to get together for a cuppa and catchup with friends, or make new friends. Each month, on the first Tuesday of the month, there will be a themed coffee morning. Did you know that 1st September is National ginger cat appreciation day - a good excuse for ginger biscuits! It's also 'little black dress day' but I felt that 'Autumn' is probably a better theme. Come and see what we have on offer.

David Banks kept us all interested in his talk today about his work and that of others in the field of Counter Terrorism Policing.
It's good to know many more people are involved in keeping us all safe than one might imagine.

I often highlight the fundraising we do and club fellowship events. Helping other Rotarians is something that we also do and today I am hugely grateful to Paul G, Sue M and Len J for their help and support (practical and physical) solving a domestic problem that I couldn’t do on my own.

Our first Fellowship event of the new Rotary year took place on Friday. The weather was perfect and the location delightful. Several members were introduced to the game of Petanque with varying degrees of success. Teams of ladies were challenging the men for the 'Better Half Trophy'. After a few years of the ladies winning other competitions this year the men finally won. Trevor is seen in the photo waving the trophy.
A most enjoyable time was had by all, as can be seen in the photos. I suspect this could become an annual event so a big thank you is due to President Stuart for organising it.

I recently asked the new members that I have inducted over the last year why they Joined the Rotary Club of Rugby and what they have got out of joining. Leasa is the first person to reply

Twelve months ago, I joined the Rotary Club of Rugby as a Corporate Member on behalf of Anya Court Care Home. Initially, my goal was to raise the profile of our care home within the local community, but it quickly became much more than that.

Being part of Rotary has given us the opportunity to support fundraising initiatives and contribute to addressing the challenges faced by people in Rugby and the surrounding areas. It has been incredibly rewarding to work alongside like-minded individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

For Anya Court, our involvement has also created valuable opportunities for community engagement with our residents. Building connections between our residents and the wider community is something we are passionate about, and Rotary has helped make those connections possible. Whether through events, volunteering, or supporting local causes, these experiences have enriched the lives of our residents and strengthened our ties with the community.

On a personal level, joining Rotary has been a fulfilling experience. It has allowed me to contribute to meaningful projects, meet inspiring people, and feel that I am playing a small part in making a positive impact. Knowing that, together, we can help improve the lives of others is something I find incredibly rewarding.

Looking back over the past year, joining the Rotary Club of Rugby has been one of the best decisions I've made, both professionally and personally. I look forward to continuing to support the Club's work, representing Anya Court Care Home, and helping to make a lasting difference in our community.

Thanks to Ross and Ben and the lovely students from Houlton School (pictured with Tricia) 100 '4 For Four' meal packs were loaded into and unloaded from two cars and delivered to two schools today.
Also thanks to the students of Houlton school for the generous donations of food which will either make more meal packs or go to the Food bank.
