Bring back Barney

I had the honour to share my story at a all girls STEM event today at the British Motor museum, which I will be doing again over the next 2 days. This event was incredible with 70 young girls getting stuck in with STEM activities, showing that girls do have a place within STEM. My main aim for restoring Barney, and the true message behind the campaign is to inspire and encourage other young girls to get involved with historic motoring, therefore it is crucial for me to directly address them in situations such as these to fulfil my duty and help young girls find their place in STEM. Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way that has made it possible for me to create a platform to share my story and help other girls and young people create their stories, I would not be where I am today without all the encouragement and support I have received.

Thank you so much for everyone who took part in the prize draw I hosted at the NEC restoration show this weekend, the winners have been drawn and contacted so congratulations to everyone who won!!

This weekend we raised £600 from the prize draw which is more than we could ever imagine, it is a incredible achievement and wouldn’t of happened without all your support and kindness you showed me this weekend.

Anyone who took part your help and support means the world to me and will make this restoration possible, once I finish my GCSES the work will fully begin and everything will be shared on social media and the practical classics magazine.

Also thank you again for everyone who donated a prize as the prize draw wouldn’t have happened without you, your support and willingness to help was unbelievable and I am so grateful.

I look forward to where this car will take me!

Yet another amazing day at the NEC, met some incredible people today including and (more content on that to come) who I thoroughly enjoyed talking to.

Also met up with my fellow StarterMotor ambassador and spread awareness about the charity which is truly a trailblazer in this ever changing industry.

Spent some time with and which are teaming up together for their amazing initiative to help young people thrive in the classic car community.

Lots more to come! Tomorrow I will be on stage with a panel of people representing the community discussing the future of classic cars at 12:30 make sure to stop by and watch, I would love your support.

This event truly is one of a kind and is the best for networking, connecting and sharing your stories.

Hello everyone,

I would like to apologise that I have been so quiet lately. Unfortunately a family situation came up, that meant I was unable to be managing the Barney project for a while. But not to worry, we are getting back on track!

Barney will be on show at the Banbury Festival of Motoring so make sure to come see me and Barney and have a chat! It is the last event you will see him at in his current condition.

On the 5th of October Barney is getting ice blasted!!! This is the first big step in my resto project and I am so excited to get things going. Lots will be happening over the next few weeks so stay tuned!

The restoration begins this Summer, but Barney's journey has already started. Since becoming the custodian of Barney I have taken him to several car events as well as presenting to the MMOC agm pitching my campaign.

I can't do this restoration alone, we need to draw in more support. Please share our story and campaign to car clubs and organisations, ask them if they can support me and Barney and challenge them to actively encourage more young people to get involved. Make the events accessible for young people and go out of your way to encourage them to come along.

To help us raise the funds to get Barney back on the road, we need large donations and big support. However you are able to help us please get in touch. Whether that's inviting me to talk at your next car clubs agm or event, giving support with social media and networking or helping us source essential things we will need for the restoration eg. parts and pay rent for our workshop/storage.

We have recieved so much support so far but it is crucial that we push our campaign and fundraising to the next level, if we not only want to see Barney back on the road but to see more young people in the classic car community for the years to come.

So many positives from another day at the British Motor Museum! We started with a meeting in the morning with the team responsible for the museum collection. We discussed the vision for Barney and their passion for inspiring young people including workshops and STEM events which I hope to be invited to contribute to in the future 🤩 Then it was time to do a bit of practical work on Barney starting with a bit of a brush and a quick polish! 🤣 And thanks to some generous people at the Morris Minor National show, Barney is going home with a few new bits! Small steps, but it all adds up and I'm very grateful ❤️ Thanks to all the lovely staff at the museum and everyone we met for a very encouraging weekend!
