S5 WEAPONS TRAINING DAY

Today, cadets from across Sector 5 came together at RAF Shawbury for the penultimate Sector Weapons Training Day.

The training delivered by Skill-At-Arms Instructors involved training on the BSA Scorpion Air Rifle, L144A1 and the L98A2.

Cadets are now qualified to take part in live firing across the weapon platforms, well done!

*All cadet live firing is conducted by qualified and competent instructors.

AIR OFFICER WALES VISIT

Tonight, the Squadron was visisted by Air Commodore Woods RAF, Air Officer Wales.

Whilst at the Squadron, Air Commodore Woods spoke to cadets and staff about his role and orienteering of which he is the President of the RAF Oreienteering Association.

It was a pleasure to welcome Air Commodore Woods to the Squadron, thank you Sir!

STAFF QUALIFICATION!👏

Congratulations to OC, Fg Off Jones for completing the 'K Qual' with No 1 Small Arms Training Team this weekend at Catterick Garrison.

The qualification qualifies Fg Off Jones to operate both the Butts and Console on long shooting ranges as well as supervise firing on a shooting range.

As Volunteers' Week begins, we would like to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers, from Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, Chaplains, to Civilian Committee Members.

Thank you for the time you give, the support you provide, and the commitment you show throughout the year. Whether on parade nights, weekends away, camps, events, behind the scenes, or in countless unseen ways, your dedication makes a real difference to the lives of our cadets.

You freely give your time to help young people develop confidence, skills, and opportunities that will stay with them for life. The success of our squadrons and the experiences we provide would simply not be possible without you.

This week, and every week, we recognise and appreciate everything you do for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and for the young people of No. 2 Welsh Wing.

S5 FIELDCRAFT TRAINING DAY 🌳

Today, cadets from across East Wales attended the Sector 5 Fieldcraft Training Day.

The day aims to increase the amount of 'Blue Badge' Holders across the area and deliver refresher training for those wishing to progress in the near future.

WREXHAM MINI-ARMED FORCES DAY 🛫

Today, the Squadron, alongisde 2279 (Wrexham) and 856 (Chirk) were in Queens Square, Wrexham where they took part in a day of Military Celebration.

The event, organised by the military charity, Woody's Lodge, were raising money by completing a speed march from Chester to Wrexham City Centre!

INTER-SQUADRON ATHLETICS

Today, cadets from the Squadron attended the No 2 Welsh Wing Inter-Squadron Athletics Competition.

Cadets competed in a range of areas against other Squadrons from across North and Mid-Wales!

THURSDAY THROWBACK 🔄

This month, the Sector 5 Passing Parade took place at Hightown Barracks.

The event saw our new cadets pass out as fully fledged First Class Cadets following 6 months of commitment. The event, hosted over a weekend, trained cadets in ceremonial drill ready for the big day.

SECTOR 5 PASSING OUT PARADE 2026

This weekend brought together cadets and cadet forces adult volunteers from across Sector 5 for the Annual Passing Out Parade of our September Intake.

The parade celebrates our new starters in a formal ceremony in front of parents and guests.

The reviewing officer for this years parade was Squadron Leader Owen RAFAC, No 2 Welsh Wing ATC Aviation Officer.

We wish all of our new cadets the best of luck in their Royal Air Force Air Cadets Careers!
