Aspens Charities

Aspens Charities Providing high quality support & care to people on the autism spectrum & with learning disabilities.

Aspens provides a wide range of services including residential care, supported accommodation, day service activities, specialist support, live helpline and support to live independently in the community for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and those on the autism spectrum across the South East . We empower those we support to have choice and control over

how they live their lives and to live life to its full potential. When social distancing rules allow, we welcome visitors to our beautiful Cornford Lane site, where we have a cafe, animal petting barn, woodland walk, outdoor gym, picnic area and children's playground. By making a donation, supporting our fundraising events, visiting our cafe or 5 stores you help us to continue to provide a vital service to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

We asked some of the people we support to share the things they love to do and their achievements. Today we hear from Stuart, who tell us how much he enjoys taking part in the new upcycling project at Acorns Day Opportunities and how proud it makes him feel.โ™ป๏ธโœจ

We're highlighting the 'Do You See Me' theme this Learning Disability Week, and we asked our staff team how they empower the people we support to feel truly seen.

Today, team member Jamie who is a Project Manager and Support Worker at Aspens, tells us about the importance of listening, highlighting the positive and creating opportunities.

Thank you for sharing this Jamie and for your commitment, compassion and the difference you make every day. ๐Ÿ’™

It's Learning Disability Week, and throughout the week we're sharing stories, experiences and reflections from our staff and the people we support.

We're kicking off Learning Disability Week with a quote from Tony, a member of our People's Voice forum and a lived-experience representative at Aspens.

Recently, Tony has started taking part in presentations at local schools alongside Aspens staff, sharing his experiences and helping to raise awareness and understanding.

It's fantastic to see Tony building his confidence, sharing his voice and making a difference in the community. ๐Ÿ’›
