“A long-term illness is very difficult. A chance to escape and relax for a few days does a world of good. Especially for my mental health.”
A break away doesn’t make the challenges of a disability or a long-term illness disappear, but this World Mental Health Day we wanted to recognise that while for some, holidays are a luxury, for those we support they can be a lifeline.
It can be a chance to step away from the routines and challenges of everyday life and ease some of the everyday pressures.
It’s a chance to make memories, experience something new and have something to look forward to, all of which are important for our mental health.
It’s also a chance for carers to take a breath, recharge and enjoy precious time together.
When you're living with a disability or a long-term illness, or supporting someone who is, life can sometimes become centred around appointments, care, finances and what needs to happen next.
A break gives you a few day where you can simply be together.
That's why we believe holidays aren't a luxury; they can be a lifeline.
We can only offer our holiday grants and group holidays with the generosity of our supporters. If you’d like to make a difference this World Mental Health Day, you can text to donate:
