Cubs on the water! 🛶

Last night Rothley Cubs swapped the Scout Hut for canoes and headed out on the water with Hot Doggers, Leicestershire Scouts Water Activities Team at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre.

A brilliant evening learning new skills, working together and, judging by the photos, having a lot of fun along the way!

A huge thank you to the Hot Doggers team and all the volunteers who made the evening possible. 👏

This is what Cubs is all about: adventure, new experiences and giving things a go.

🥾 12 Scouts. 1 Expedition. A whole lot of adventure! 🗺️🏕️

Our Scouts have been putting their Skills for Life to the test this weekend, heading out on an expedition from Stoney Cove to Ullesthorpe Scout Campsite.

With fully loaded rucksacks, maps and compasses, they’ve been navigating their way across the countryside, putting their map reading, route planning and navigation skills into practice. 🧭

Once they arrived at camp, it was time to get back to basics and enjoy some traditional Scout skills:

🔪 Knife skills and whittling sticks
🔥 Fire lighting using flint and steel
🍡 Toasting marshmallows over their fires
🤸 Slack lining
🌲 And plenty more outdoor challenges and activities!

There was also a special moment on camp as Clare, one of our Scout Leaders, was presented with her 5 Year Service Award by Georgia. 🏅👏

A huge congratulations to Clare, and a massive thank you for the time, commitment and enthusiasm you’ve given to our Scouts over the last five years. 💚

It’s fantastic to see our Scouts out in the countryside, challenging themselves, working as a team, learning new skills and having a brilliant time along the way.

Well done to all 12 Scouts — what an adventure! 👏
