The lovely Nadia, a local wildlife enthusiast, and Trustee for Bute Community Land Company, is organising a beach clean this Saturday (tomorrow) at Ettrick Bay. The plan is to meet at the tearoom car park to collect litter pickers and bags. Well done Nadia! 🥰

Since our very special royal visit on Thursday, we’ve had lots of lovely messages and enquiries from people all over the world asking how they can support and donate to Beachwatch Bute.

Well… that was a right royal day out 👑👏🌊

We don’t think we’ve quite come down from that high yet! What an incredible day at Ettrick Bay on Thursday as Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince and Princess of Wales (Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland) joined Beachwatch Bute and our wonderful volunteers for a beach clean.

Prince William and Princess Kate got stuck right in. They helped collect litter, chatted with our team and heard more about the work we do to protect and care for Bute’s beautiful coastline. It was such a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work of Beachwatch and the amazing community that makes it all possible.

A huge thank you to everyone from Beachwatch Bute who helped make the day so special 🙌 We’re still pinching ourselves that we got to share one of our beach cleans with the Prince and Princess of Wales!

And then, of course, there was the tractor! After a quick lesson from our Beachranger, Sandra, Prince William took the wheel with Princess Kate alongside him. They headed down the beach to help move a large mussel buoy and we have to say, our vintage Beachwatch tractor has never had quite such important passengers 🚜👏🏼

A very special shout out to West Coast Motors for keeping our tractor safely stored and looked after, and to Robert Murray and Allan Smith for helping keep it maintained and ready for all our beach clean adventures. We’re so grateful for your continued support.

And we can’t forget Jarvie Stenhouse, who gave the tractor the perfect valet before its big day! It was looking absolutely sparkling and more than ready for its royal spin.

It was an absolute privilege to welcome The Prince and Princess of Wales to Bute and share with them the work we’re so passionate about. To see our little Beachwatch tractor heading down Ettrick Bay with two very special passengers on board is a moment we’ll be talking about for years to come.

We’re still buzzing, we’re still smiling and we’re incredibly proud of what was a truly unforgettable day for Beachwatch Bute ❤️
