A wonderful evening celebrating Rotherham Sea Cadets
Yesterday evening, we held our Annual General Meeting at TS Repulse. We would like to thank everyone who joined us and helped make the occasion so special.
Ordinary Cadet Nazir gave a fantastic speech about his journey through the Sea Cadets and the difference the experience has made to him. SAF-O Cottam also delivered an inspiring presentation showing how the opportunities offered by Sea Cadets can extend far beyond life as a TS Repulse Cadet. These have included university sailing around the world and becoming a member of the Yorkshire Universities Royal Naval Unit.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Haroon Rashid, who was accompanied by his father. We were also joined by Lieutenant Colonel Mac McPherson DL, representing His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire.
We were delighted to welcome Revd Canon Phil Batchford of Rotherham Minster and St Paul’s Masbrough as well as Mr Ron Moffett MBE, representing the Royal British Legion and continuing his longstanding support for Rotherham Sea Cadets.
Our thanks also go to our charity partners, supporting companies, parents, carers, Juniors and Cadets who attended and continue to stand behind the unit.
Before the formal AGM began, we took the opportunity to recognise some of the volunteers who give their time, energy and commitment to help Rotherham Sea Cadets maintain the highest standards. Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we achieve.
The business section of the AGM reflected on the unit’s stable financial footing and the significant investments made during the past year. On the training side, growing Cadet numbers and a waiting list for Junior Cadets demonstrate the continuing need for what we provide.
This growth also highlights the potential need for expansion, possibly into larger premises should the right opportunity become a reality.
We are incredibly proud of TS Repulse, our volunteers and Cadets and the difference we continue to make.
We are proud to serve the Rotherham community.
