Volunteer Spotlight! 🌟

As we kick off Volunteers’ Week, we want to take a moment to celebrate one of our truly incredible volunteers, Di Barnett 💜.

Dianne gives so much of her time, kindness, and energy to support Crossroads Care Rotherham and the carers we work with.

She volunteers in our Day Centre and Bereavement Group, as well as offering Reiki and healing sessions that bring comfort, relaxation, and support to so many people.

This year, Dianne also organised her annual Cake Day fundraiser, raising an amazing £533 for Crossroads Care, alongside funds for two other charities 🍰.

Volunteers like Dianne make a real difference every single day.

Whether it's offering a listening ear, sharing a skill, supporting a group, or raising vital funds, their generosity helps us continue providing support to unpaid carers across our community.

Thank you, Dianne, for everything you do. We are so grateful to have you as part of the Crossroads Care family.

Could you make a difference too?

We're always looking for passionate, caring people to join our fantastic team of volunteers. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or help with fundraising and events, we'd love to hear from you.

BBC Caring Matters Week: Shining a light on unpaid carers 💜.

This week, the BBC is putting carers at the heart of the conversation through Caring Matters Week – raising awareness of the realities, challenges, and incredible dedication of unpaid carers across the UK.

One of the standout programmes is Natalie Cassidy’s new series, inspired by her own personal experiences of caring and the stories she’s encountered along the way.

The series explores the emotional highs and lows of caring, the pressures many families face behind closed doors, and the importance of support, understanding, and community.

Natalie has spoken openly about wanting to give carers a voice and help people feel seen – because so many carers quietly juggle work, family life, appointments, medication, and emotional support every single day without recognition.

At Crossroads Care, we know just how important this conversation is. Caring can be rewarding, but it can also feel isolating and overwhelming at times.

Programmes like this help shine a much-needed spotlight on the experiences of unpaid carers and remind people that support is out there.

If you’re a carer, know a carer, or simply want to better understand the realities of caring, we’d really encourage you to watch the series and take part in the conversation this week.

If you’re affected by any of the topics raised, or caring is becoming difficult to manage, please remember – you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to support you.

Barge Trip on the Pearl with the Ethel Trust

We enjoyed a beautiful trip down the canal taking in the surrounding and enjoying seeing the wildlife aboard the Pearl with the Ethel Trust. A delicious fish and chip lunch was brought onto the barge, which made the experience even more special. The crew were truly fantastic, and everyone had an amazing day 🌼
