Our Branch Secretary Kerri was in Parliament yesterday for UNISON’s Cost of Living Action Day, as part of our We Show Up campaign.

We met with Rotherham’s MP Sarah Champion to make sure our members voices were heard ahead of the Budget.

We were clear about what public service workers need:
🟣 Proper investment in public services
🟢 Fair pay that keeps up with the cost of living
🟣 More services brought back in-house
🟢 A fair tax system where everyone pays their share

Our members show up every day to keep Rotherham running. Yesterday, we showed up for them.

Thanks to Sarah for meeting with us and listening to the issues affecting our members and communities.

We show up. We speak up. We fight for better.

💜 Solidarity with UNISON Leeds Teaching Hospitals members💜

This morning our Branch Secretary, Kerri, joined UNISON members on the picket line at Leeds General Infirmary.

Members are now taking indefinite strike action in their fight for fair rebanding and proper recognition for the work they do. They are calling on the Trust to come back to the table, listen to staff and resolve this dispute.

Kerri was proud to speak to strikers alongside Richard Burgon MP and other trade union activists, with Joe Solo also joining the picket line and treating everyone to some brilliant solidarity songs. 🎶✊

These members have shown huge strength and determination. They should not have to strike indefinitely to be properly valued.

UNISON Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Branch stands firmly with them.

💜 CONSULTATION OPEN 💚

If you are school support staff, look out for an email with your ballot on the proposed School Support Staff Negotiating Body (SSSNB).

UNISON's SSSNB will be your dedicated voice and will reflect and recognise the realities your experience every day, helping to tackle issues such as unfair pay, term time only contacts and unrealistic expectations to cover additional workloads.

Plus, there will be no option for academies to opt out.

UNISON is running an online consultation between 15 September - 6 October, asking members: ‘Do you agree with the proposals?’. Our national School Sector Committee, made up of UNISON members, recommends you vote ‘YES’.

Wow. What a day we’ve had at Rotherham Show! 🎪

We’ve been completely overwhelmed by the number of people who stopped by our stall today, members, non-members, councillors, delegates, MPs and plenty of familiar faces.

Thank you to every single person who came over for a chat, the support has been incredible 😍

And the best bit? We get to do it all again tomorrow! 🙌

Trade unions are back and judging by today, people are more than ready for us ✊
