For me it's been 5 years.
I loved the fact that when we first started my daughter, who was 10 at the time, had started to be more interested in more grown up things like makeup, hair, bags and so on but when she became home ed she started to play with toys again because she wasn't scared of being bullied because of it. She could actually be a child for a little bit longer!
Of course being accepted to start her degree at 14 is also up there too! haha x

So after yesterday amazing home education prom event, we are now looking for a new venue for next year. Our last venue is uncertain so we feel finding somewhere new will be the safest option for us.

We host one of the largest home education prom events in the UK and it is growing each year.
This year we had around 300 people attend (doubling the first year in 2023). So next year we need a venue that would hold about 500 and preferably in the south Yorkshire area.

The event is a celebration of home education for all ages, abilities and backgrounds to attend. This is also open for those that are interested in learning about home education to break down the barrier or maybe to learn how the can incorporate home education into their lives.

The current venue we use has indoor and outdoor seating, park, food vendors, rides and icecream van (own contracts) so we would like something similar to this but other than indoor seating the rest aren't deal breakers and were open to ideas.

Our previous proms events have included educational stalls each self insured, volunteer photographers, DJ, free sweet table, arts and crafts and other fun activities.
Going forward we would like to keep growing and have more educational stalls, competitions and prizes to win, press and media possibly attending and maybe some VIPs.

Our budget isn't huge at all. We try to keep ticket prices to a minimum as we want attending this event to be an option for everyone.
A lot of time and effort goes into arranging this prom most of which is done solely by me so finding somewhere asap would be great.
We do have a rough date in mind around the beginning of August. We are fine to do any day of the week also so if any venues have specific quiet days then that would be fine for us.
The times we do prom is from 6pm-9.30pm.
We would need access earlier on in the morning to decorate and also be able to arrive from 5pm ish to help the educational stalls set up.

If this is something you can offer or if you know anywhere that could offer this please let me know: :)

Thanks everyone,
Kim

What a day!!!

Here's a massive post about Prom and what to expect :)

This year has been way more difficult than before because this year I decided to add educational stalls.
I thought it would add an extra edge to the prom and would suit even more people.
Having health issues and stuff made things difficult but I've pushed though and sort of managed it.
We've needed insurance and details for all stall holders (waiting for a couple more) and also PAT testing for electrical equipment.
Unfortunately due to this (it's new and ive only just found out this morning) our lovely photographers will no longer be able to attend, insurance was manageable but the cost and lack of time for PAT testing means they just wouldn't be able to do it in time.
I have bought a little blow up picture frame and accesories for them to play about with too though which I know isn't the same but.
However we have a great list of educational stalls coming so that's great and most of which are free or cheap.
We have a lady coming to do face/ body paint and glitter hair and accessories.
We have the icecream van.
2 big rides and the bouncy castles.
Free park.
DJ (depending on how his op goes Monday!)
We have a couple of food vendors one of which may be the pizza man.
Bar.
Free sweet table.
Free tattoo transfers.
Free Nature nerds book marks.
Free Nature nerds arts and crafts table, making wishing wands with personalised NN prom 2025 stickers to keep as keepsakes.
Some of the above are cash only so please bring cash with you.

I've even bought some tiny ducks that I'm gonna hide all over (not on the rides or anything) so the kids, especially the nervous ones can have something to concentrate on finding something and take their minds off how busy and noisy it may be. It's pretty spaced out but I know from personal experience how scary it can be to walk in somewhere like that.

Clothing wise, anything goes! You don't have to wear usual prom atire you really can wear whatever you feel comfortable in (not birthday suit for any literal ones out there haha)

The other thing that may be amazing news but I need to confirm it fully first.
Abtisam Mohamed MP may be coming to visit us which may be an incredible opportunity to show what the home ed community can come together and do and how passionate we are about the education of our kids.
She has been very pro home education recently and has tried to make some really good changes to the bill to help home educators.
It may be a good opportunity to share worries with her and ask for clarification on things.

All in all I think this year is going to be brilliant and were really looking forward to it, even though atm my head feels like it's going to explode!
I know I'll be emotional on the day that it's finally over and then on to planning next year! Haha x

Very excited for Wednesday! Pre-book event only, tickets won't be available on the night. Book now to avoid disappointment :)

Not long now until our Prom!
Remember this is for all ages and home educated or not!
Invite family and friends too :)

We have indoor and outdoor seating.
Dj.
Photographer.
Free park.
Food vendors and bar.
Ice-cream van.
Free sweet table.
Free arts and crafts.
Educational stalls (please tag your page below for future reference of those attending :) )
There's bouncy castles and hopefully rides too.
Hoping for a facepainter also :)

I have audhd and have planned this in a way that it's hopefully more manageable for those with sensory needs.

Please join our group and have a look at our albums for pictures of previous proms so you can have an idea of what it looks like.

There's also camping and glamping available to book through Hooton Lodge Farm.

This will be our 3rd year of our annual home ed prom and we're super excited!
Please pay via PayPal friends and family [email protected] or contact me for bank details :)

Kids to be supervised by adults at all times. Whilst we have hired to have the venue to ourselves for the prom there are still residents that live there so if we can keep the kids away from the caravans that would be brilliant :)
