Wildlife A&E

Wildlife A&E Non-profit organisation who want to help injured/orphaned wildlife back to the wild.

Educating people along the way that wildlife have a right to live and we should be able to appreciate that and live along side them, with out prejudice.

After more than 20 years of looking after wildlife in our local area, we are sad to announce that we will ceasing to operate Wildlife A&E at the end of this month. Sue & I have both reached the age of retirement, where climbing over fences, all night feeds and early mornings don’t come easy anymore. We will certainly miss the little critters and are always happy to offer advice any time. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Obviously, we have a lot of cages, pods and equipment we would be happy to pass on to any groups who may need them or who are thinking of setting up and are in need of anything. Please email me – [email protected]

Yesterday I collected an injured tawny owl from two lovely guys who work at Lingfield racecourse. Looks like it has had an argument with a car as was bleeding from its beak and has an eye that is closed and swollen. Wings and legs all ok. After a quick eye check at the vets couldn’t see and detachment so give the weekend to see if it settles and then recheck.

Here is the hedgehog that came in a few weeks ago weighing only 434g after being found out during the day. He now weighs 702g a nice healthy weight and as the weather has improved a little it was an ideal time to release him.

A great place for watching wildlife

Today we have had a very poorly tawny owl seen sitting on the lawn yesterday but was still there this morning. It has really bad canker so bad in me to shut its beak but I have managed to get a tube in to feed and medicate it. It has a bit of fight in it so hoping he continues to fight but we have a long way to go.

If you ever find injured wildlife, please don’t rely on Google or AI to diagnose or treat it 🦔🦊🦉

Search results and automated advice can’t assess shock, internal injuries, stress levels, or species-specific needs. What seems like helpful information can accidentally cause more harm, delay treatment, or reduce an animal’s chances of survival in the wild.

Wildlife care is hands-on, trained, and situation-specific. Every minute matters, and every case is different.

The safest thing you can do:
📞 Call a wildlife rescue or vet immediately
📍 Follow their advice step-by-step
🤲 Only handle the animal if you’re instructed to

Wildlife A&E are here for exactly these moments and are always happy to guide you.

Real people. Real experience. Real help when it matters most. 💚

This afternoon had a call about a baby rabbit lying in a carpark on Ashdown Forest. I asked the caller to get it into a box or wrap in a towel so that it was safe and went to meet them. Unfortunately it had myxomatosis and by the time I got back home it had died. The. This evening I picked up a juvenile pigeon seen sitting on a log pile for the last two days. No sign of canker eyes clear wings and legs ok so maybe just been blown around in this awful weather we have had. Now tucked up in the hospital in the warm after having a tube feed of rehydration feed. Hopefully he will feel better soon

I saw this in another page and thought it was so useful as we are always having calls about birds who have flown into a window or found dazed in the ground.
