Always wanted to save seed but don’t know where to start? Interested in gardening and growing, but struggling to get out and about? Want to try something mindful that will connect you with nature? This event is for you!

Help the Fife Seed Library to build our collection by processing the seeds which have been donated to us by local growers.

Join us for a relaxed, indoor, seated session where you can learn all about seed saving for different crops, and get hands on with some of our seeds that are waiting to be sorted. You’ll be able to get involved with whichever parts of the process are interesting to you:

learn how to sort the seeds from the chaff
learn about which seeds need to be dried or pre-processed before storing
measure out seeds and put them into our compostable seed packets
write labels for the packets of saved seeds
No experience needed! Even if you have never gardened or thought about seed saving before, everyone is welcome.

Light refreshments will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks.

This event is part of the Fife Climate Festival and has been generously funded by FCCAN!

Hello, we are Fife Seed Library. We're building a community to develop skills, knowledge and resources related to seed saving, biodiversity, soil health and sustainable growing and gardening practices across Fife.

We want to:

- Offer people in Fife free access to organic, open-pollinated seeds.

- Grow a library of diverse seeds adapted and resilient to the Fife climate.

- Cultivate seed stewardship to build climate, food and community resilience.

- Participate in international, local and Scotland-wide seed networks and exchanges.

- Connect seed saving in Fife to marginalised practices, cultures and histories of earth care and land resistance, here and around the world.

We're a young organisation and are still getting established. You can register interest in membership by joining our mailing list. Link in bio.
