We were so touched and delighted to receive this card on Wednesday. Heartfelt messages like this mean the world to us. Not every story that comes through our doors has a happy ending, and recognising that we have made such a difference in the lives of this little family gives the team here a real boost. The struggle is real for so many, we will continue to do all we can for everyone who walks through the door. Do not lose yourselves in the struggle, reach out for help.

We love all sorts of cake! Thanks to the fab Neil Fowler there was plenty to go round today. It is lovely to have supporters who just turn up randomly with donations for us, they are always welcome! Thanks Neil!

Ahhh what a great person Neil Fowler is! He popped in earlier to help with a donation, and stayed to unpack a few crates. Always willing to help with anything, at any time. Neil is one of those people you can rely upon in a crisis, a person you can turn to in times of trouble. Thanks Neil - and if anyone is wondering what we currently need - milk! We always need milk, few people donate it because it is heavy!! We get through about 30 litres a week!

We had a bit of an issue today, and needed help. I reached out to Neil Fowler to ask if he could assist. He was only too happy to help. He brought his lovely son with him, and they spent a couple of hours sorting a problem. He didn't want me to take a photo, he isn't in this for the publicity, but I insisted. He is always ready to lend a hand, incredibly community-minded and puts our town first all the time. Thanks Neil - you're fab!

This free training to raise awareness of domestic abuse is offered by Herefordshire Council through the West Mercia Police local fund.

The sessions are aimed at anyone who works with the general public, or who has a role that includes a trusting relationship with clients.
This could include hairdressers, tattoo artists, public house workers, and carers.

This event is on 13th November at The Ryefield Centre. Please book tickets and go along if you would like to learn more about how to spot signs that a client is being abused, and what to do about it.

Bear with me - this is a long one - but important! At The Hub Ross-on-Wye would like to help raise awareness of child exploitation generally, both criminal and/or sexual, with the local community as very often the risk is wrongly perceived not to be present locally.

The paragraph below explains the work of Catch22, and how they can help you as a parent, as a professional or as a young person. We would like to set up some parent awareness sessions, and would like to gauge interest in how these would be best received. These could be drop-in sessions, while we are open or in private, they could be online sessions if you would feel more comfortable taking part at home.

If this is of interest to you - please comment, or send us a private message. There is no commitment, we just want to find out what approach would suit best. Thank you!

Catch22 have over ten years of experience supporting victims of child exploitation across England and Catch22 West Mercia STEPS project is providing both preventative support and expert care to children who are impacted by child criminal and child sexual exploitation across West Merica. We are also delivering awareness and prevention sessions for professionals, children (8-18 years and up to age 24 with additional needs), parents and carers. The aim of our work is to equip young people with tools to use, both currently and in the future, which will help them identify when someone or something feels unsafe, know who they can go to for help and have language needed to describe to their support network what is impacting them in order for those people to safeguard them. The sessions increase understanding of exploitation and grooming and support young people to recognise the dangers posed by individuals to young people both in person and offline. We support young people to be able to recognise healthy vs unhealthy relationships, safety in the community and trauma responses. Our work is tailored to each young person based on their individual needs.
