The Peace and Hope Trust shop in Croft Court raises funds from the sale of books, furniture, electrical and many unusual items in order to send aid containers to developing countries.
The Trust was set up by our founder Squadron Leader Mike Cole who on his working trips overseas saw desperate poverty and determined to set up a way to help these people.
40+ years later we have a dedicated warehouse and send aid containers to different parts of the world. We started in Nicaragua, and have since expanded our mission to send aid to Ukraine, Romania and The Philippines.
Equipment sent includes physio and disability aids, hospital beds, wheelchairs and mobility aids - all no longer wanted or required in our country - to places where these items are in desperate need.
On Wednesday 7th October our latest aid truck was despatched to a new area - Moldova, after partnering with an organisation that will distribute the aid in the country.
Here is just a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes in our Trust. We are very grateful to all our customers and supporters for helping us to keep sending surplus medical equipment to these countries.
