So many skills for life are learnt through your time at cadets - skills that will last past your time at cadets and be applicable in all areas of life.

Leadership and teamwork, confidence and communication, logic and problem solving; alongside many qualifications including first aid, map reading, btecs, mountain biking, swimming and Duke of Edinbugh Award, all while building friendships that can last a lifetime.

First Aid is an incredibly important skill, and one we are proud to support on the squadron. Last year Flt Sgt Seaborn used her knowledge to save the life of a passenger on the bus she was travelling on. For this act she received a commendation from the National Humane Society. Flt Sgt Seaborn has since gone on to achieve her Gold First Aid award, meaning she can now instruct the cadets kn the squadron and help develop their skills .

Today in National Cadet week we are celebrating the staff of 1002 sqn.
We have staff from all different backgrounds, with many different abilities and skills who work together to make sure our cadets have the best opportunities.
Thank you to all the Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers (CFAV) and Trustees- without you there would be no squadron!

This week is the first ever National Cadets Week from the 5th-11th October.
We are celebrating all our cadets, staff, volunteers, and families that helps make the organisation so fantastic.

3 of our cadets started the week by beginning their journey towards achieving their Method Of Instruction by completing initial training on presentation skills with our Padre. They completed an initial short presentation to their peers.

What a busy September 1002 Sqn have had! Our open evening was huge success with a whole new host of young people joining us. We took home a first place at Wing Field Day, along with Flt Lt Marsh's new medal and a promotion for Cpl Duberley. Sgt Morris passed his CiC Course, and we also took 4 cadets gliding, and joined a raft building exercise at the start of the month.

Its not just the cadets that we train, last week Sgt Gary Morris successfully completed the CiC course at the Command and Leadership school at RAF Cranwell.
This course covers many aspects of Leadership, Followership, Management, Safety and Security as well as Uniform and Drill assessments.

Sgt Morris and the other candidates from multiple Regions had the opportunity to spend some valuable time with Group Captain Wakefield at College Hall Officers Mess as part of the graduation ceremony following this intensive week training.

A huge congratulations to all the cadets who took part in Wing Field Day yesterday. We joined hundreds of cadets across West Mercian Wing to compete in many different competitions to demonstrate the skills we have learnt through the year. Cdt Morris took home the first place trophy for Smartest Cadet. We also placed 4th place in Modelling, 5th in Radio, 6th in Banner Drill, 7th in First Aid, 9th in Shooting, 13th in Media, 17th in Cyber and 19th in Drone and Space. Very proud of all of our cadets.

A cadets view of a day gliding! Last week 4 of our cadets went gliding at Little Rissington. They had great weather and all got to experience 2 flights, taking control of the glider and learning how the gliders operate

Thank you to everyone that came to our open evening on Friday. It was a great success and we are really proud of all the cadets who showcased their passion and knowledge. We hope to see all the enthusiastic young people who visited joining us on a parade night soon.
