Subject: sound moderator update

Copied from another groups page.

From Gloucestershire Constabulary important legislative update re UK sound moderators and correspondence:

Please see below RE: the amendments of section 44 and Schedule 5 of the Crime and Policing Act 2026. This came into force yesterday 29th June 2026 however the police were only notified about it today, so apologies for the delay but we weren’t aware.

The important things summarised below

- Sounds moderators will no longer appear on FACs
- The removing of sounds mod or unused authorities cannot be used as part of a 1 for 1 going forward. Any unused authorities are now null and void
- Sounds mod can now be purchased by virtue of having a FAC (no authorities needed)
- We urge the holders not to send their certificates in to request them updated, we are a very small team of 4 caseworkers, under a lot of pressure and do not have the capacity to deal with a max influx of requests. We will automatically deal with these amendments as part of renewals, variations or any times your certificate is requested (for example change of address). Any certificates sent in just for this will be returned

Please note that this is how Gloucester Constabulary will be dealing with this, if the holder’s certificate is issued by another force they will need to speak to the issuing force to see how this is being dealt with

Any questions for clubs or RFDs please come back to either myself for the general public they can email us on Fi****[email protected] Please also note that the public phone has been switched back which is 01452 754516
