🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Our Leadership Team 🌟

Today we're celebrating our Non-Executive Directors and Learning Disability Advisors who all volunteer their time and expertise to Active LD.

At Active LD, we're proud to be participant-led. The lived experience, ideas and expertise of people with learning disabilities help shape everything we do, while our Directors provide the leadership and support that help our organisation thrive.

Together, they're helping create more opportunities for people with learning disabilities to live active, connected and happy lives.

Interested in joining our Board? We'd love to hear from people who share our passion for inclusion and empowering the learning disability community.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Squash & Circuits Volunteers 🌟

Our weekly squash and circuits sessions wouldn't be the same without our fantastic volunteers.

Being inclusive is about more than taking part – it's about joining in, making connections and helping everyone feel welcome. That's exactly what our volunteers do every single week.

Whether they're encouraging someone to try something new, celebrating achievements, or simply sharing a chat and a smile, our volunteers help create sessions where everyone belongs.

If you'd like to be part of our Wi******er based squash or circuits volunteer team, we'd love to welcome you!

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Personal Bests Volunteers 🌟

Today we're celebrating the amazing volunteers who help make our Personal Bests events so special.

Whether they're cheering from the sidelines, supporting activity stations, handing out medals or simply sharing in the excitement of the day, our volunteers help create an atmosphere where everyone feels encouraged, included and celebrated.

Many of our volunteers come for a day and leave with lasting memories, new friendships and a desire to come back year after year.

With just 7 weeks to go until Chichester Personal Bests, we're looking for more volunteers to join the team and help create another unforgettable day for people with learning disabilities.

If you'd like to be part of something inspiring, rewarding and lots of fun, we'd love to hear from you.

🌞🐾 What a fantastic day at our Amble and Able Farm Walk! 🐾🌞

The sun was shining, the views across the South Downs were stunning, and despite the warm weather, there was plenty of shade, plenty of smiles, and plenty of time to catch up with friends old and new. πŸ’š

We loved exploring the farm, spotting some truly incredible scarecrows, and discovering that the dog agility course worked just as well as a human agility course! πŸ˜‚πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ The tunnel was definitely a crowd favourite!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special. Events like this are all about enjoying the outdoors, being active in a way that feels good, and spending time together.

We'd also like to say a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers and supporters - extra special shout outs to:
⭐ Philippa and all the Conyngham family
⭐ Gamekeepers Goods - for the fantastic agility course and for introducing us to 'Janet' the lamb.
⭐ Jo T and Anne - for delicious food and drink
⭐️ Nick, Jo B and Jo C - for helping to guide our walks
⭐ Paige and Alice from Simplyhealth UK – it was lovely to meet you both and we can't wait to see you again at future Active LD events!
⭐ Munchcic and Simplyhealth for kindly providing gazebos to help keep everyone cool and comfortable.

Thank you all for helping create such a fun, friendly and memorable day. We can't wait for the next adventure! πŸŒ³πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ’š

Double Finalist News πŸŽ‰πŸ’™

We’re so excited and proud to share that both Personal Bests and our incredible Active LD Advisors have been shortlisted as finalists at the National LD & Autism Awards! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™

Our LD Advisors: Evie, Daniel, James, Dave, Matthew and Ryan are passionate ambassadors for being active and true experts through lived experience. They help shape everything we do and make sure the voices of people with learning disabilities are always at the heart of Active LD.

We’re also delighted that Personal Bests has been recognised. A sports day with a difference, Personal Bests celebrates inclusion, confidence, friendship and the joy of being active. We’re especially proud of our commitment to neuroinclusive practice, becoming the first event in the country to receive an Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society 🌟

Thank you to everyone who supports Active LD, this recognition belongs to our whole community. πŸ’™

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Looking for fun ways to stay active and connect with others?

We’re really looking forward to the Boaz Project Hampshire Learning Disability Providers Fair next week and celebrating our amazing local learning disability community. πŸ’œ

It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet local providers, connect with friends from day services and groups, and discover the many activities, opportunities and support available in the Wi******er area.

Active LD will be there sharing ways to get involved in being active β€” including low-level circuits, inclusive squash and friendly community walks. We’ll also be chatting about our awesome Personal Bests and Aqua Bests events.

Most importantly, we’d love to hear from you.
What activities would you like to see more of? How can we help make being active fun and accessible for everyone?

If you’re coming along, please pop over and say hello - we can’t wait to see familiar faces and meet new friends too.

James shows us that getting out for a walk can be one of the most meaningful ways to stay active. It’s not always about high energy or structured exercise - it can be calm, gentle, and really enjoyable.

Walking gives space to enjoy nature, notice the little things around us, and take a break from busy routines. It’s also a great opportunity to connect with others - a chat along the way can make all the difference.

Being active doesn’t have to be intense to be valuable. Sometimes the most powerful movement is calm and quiet.
