UPDATE: THANK YOU! We're really grateful for all your input in support of our solar panel grant applications. We'll keep you updated, once we know the outcome.

Just a final plea for any comments you'd like to make, in support of our grant applications. Many thanks to those who've taken the time to comment, this will help enormously.

Can we achieve a similar solar power installation for our hall? PLEASE WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Sorry for the repeated plea, but the Jubilee Hall is looking for village support for a project to install solar panels on the village hall. We are currently applying for grants and we need to show that there is local support for this project. We also need to show that there is a need for solar panels. The Jubilee Hall not only wants to become energy efficient, therefore saving money, but also create a Community Resilient Hub, where in an event of an emergency or extended power it is a place where people could go to get power to charge phones, get hot water etc. We had a battery installed last year and solar panels are needed to work along side this.
Do you think creating a Community Resilient is a good idea? Would you use the hall to get power? Do you support the hall getting solar panels?

SUPPORT NEEDED FOR SOLAR PANELS GRANT APPLICATION. PLEASE COMMENT BELOW.

A rather long post, I'm afraid.

We are applying for 2 grants, with the help of Dragonfly Power , to fund the installation of solar panels on the roof of the Jubilee Hall. This will reduce our energy consumption and allow us to rely less on fossil fuels. It will work alongside the Tesla battery, which we installed last year, to make the Jubilee Hall a Community Resilient Hub. In an event of a power cut or an emergency, we are hoping to make the Jubilee Hall somewhere for the local community to go as a refuge to charge their phones, boil a kettle or cook something.

We are working to rather tight deadlines for the 2 applications.
1. SSEN Resilient Fund - deadline 25th June 2025 and is up to £15,000
2. TVBC Community Fund - deadline 16th June 2025 and will pay 50% towards the project.

We need village support for this campaign, so please comment below with any thoughts you might have in support of us applying for these grants.

We are keen to encourage residents to be as low carbon in their homes as is feasible. So, once the solar panels are installed we hope to invite villagers to an event, led by Dragonfly Power and other local businesses, to learn more about the systems that are available. Please let us know if this would be of interest to you.
