It’s weigh day at Baby Necessities!

Join us between 10am – 1pm to weigh your 0–1 year olds. No need to book, just drop in! And if you know someone who might benefit, please share this post to spread the word.

What can a team achieve in a few hours of volunteering?

Quite a lot, as the Howden Insurance Romsey team demonstrated recently!

Baby Necessities is Howden Romsey's chosen Charity of the Year for 2026. They've already given lots of their time to support the work happening behind the scenes at our baby bank. This time, they brought some new faces along too.

They sorted donations, added items to bundles in the process of being prepared, and built donated cots so we could check they were safe and ready to go to families.

Corporate volunteering gives teams the chance to work together towards something tangible, while making a real difference to a local charity.
Thank you, Howden, for continuing to give your time and support.

A big thank you to Jamie from Test Valley Electrical Services for helping keep Baby Necessities safe and running smoothly.

Jamie has supported us on several occasions, including servicing our electrics, and last week he was back to replace a number of bulbs after we found ourselves working in some rather dark corners. Safe to say, he brightened up our lives with his work, and his presence! 💡

Our donation doors may be temporarily closed, but there are still plenty of ways you can help Baby Necessities.

You could:

🛒 Send new essentials from our Amazon wish list – including toiletries, baby food and other everyday essentials.

🎁 Buy a birthday gift for a child referred to our Give a Gift service.

🏠 Help us move by contributing to our Room to Grow appeal via JustGiving.

🤠 Join us at our Barn Dance or Masquerade Gala Ball and help raise funds while having a great night out.

And that’s not all. There are lots of other ways to support Baby Necessities, including ways to help without spending a penny.

One of our favourite days each month is almost here again, our baby self weighing clinic! We're looking forward to welcoming you and your 0–1's this Thursday, September 3rd.

Pop in anytime between 10am – 1pm to use our regularly calibrated, health visitor recommended scales.

With our regular volunteers having less time available during the summer holidays, some very special helpers have stepped in to keep our bundles moving.

Claire and Hayleigh's daughters Isobel and Luella (pictured), and Gillian’s daughter Zara, have all given up some of their holiday time to help create bundles for local families.

They understand why the work we do matters and have been keen to play their part, with plenty of care and attention along the way.

Just look at the beautiful bundle Isobel and Luella created! Every item carefully chosen, folded and presented with such care.

Huge thanks to each of them for giving their time and helping us support local families. 🩷

Building something lasting

A big thank you to Knights Brown for their generous £250 donation to our Room to Grow campaign.

Knights Brown takes on unique challenges across a wide range of sectors, from infrastructure and energy to water utilities and commercial buildings. We’re grateful that they’re now helping us tackle one of our biggest challenges too – building a bigger future for Baby Necessities.

Their donation has bought two virtual bricks on our Buy a Brick recognition wall. Each brick represents a contribution towards our move to a larger premises, and every brick purchased will also have a place on a physical wall in our new home.

Thank you, Knights Brown, for helping us lay another couple of bricks in the foundations of what comes next.

🚨 Wish list donations are temporarily closed.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated from our wish list over the past few weeks. Your generosity has been incredible!

We’re now taking a short pause while our staff and volunteers catch up with sorting and organising everything that’s been donated.

But don’t worry, this is only temporary! We’ll be back soon with a brand new September wish list and details of when donations will reopen.
