It is curtains closed for our season last Saturday and how quick it has gone!

It was lovely to have such great guest artistes and I think the club members all enjoyed playing to you in our own portion of the night (although our faces may not always show itπŸ˜…)

Thanks all who came out to support us, it was great to have bigger crowds of familiar and new faces. Thanks also for those who brought raffle prizes and plates of goodies for our supper πŸ˜‹

A huge thank you for everyone who has helped the committee and club over this last year on the club nights and the in between times. If there wasn't such willing and kind volunteers it would not happen so smoothly ❀️

It has been a delight showing you on here our videos and lovely to grow our fb presence. Please do look out over this next few weeks and months to see what is on store for next season and more!

Here is a video of a John Macdonald tune called Wee Hughies March which is always our closing tune 🎡πŸͺ—πŸŽ»πŸŽΆ

Here is the report from the 7th March written by committee member Joan Grant 😊

The penultimate SAFC ceilidh of the winter season was another full house at Rogart. Over
80 folk came to listen and dance to the Alasdair MacLeod Trio who hail from the Loch
Lomond area.
The programme was kicked off , as usual, by the SAFC Band. For each Ceilidh a tune list is
compiled by a different member of the Band – this month, we all enjoyed playing a lovely
varied list chosen by Heather Lyon, one of the fiddlers.
The Trio was next on stage and played with a driving but rock solid, steady rhythm, a
mature, confident sound. All experienced players, Alasdair on accordion, playing the tunes
with very nimble fingers, Mark Cummine on 2nd box with lovely creative harmonies and
keeping it all steady, Jim Nichol on keyboard. Jim gave an impressive performance despite
being up very early with the lambing!
Alasdair has played accordion since he was 7 years of age being taught by Jack Deelany. He
plays a Manfrini piano accordion and a Hohner Marino 5. As well as the trio, he also plays
with Colin Dewar, Ewan Galloway, David Oswald & Ian Hutson .
Mark Cummine, playing 2nd box, learnt by ear when he was 14 years of age and then went
on to have lessons with Stuart McEwen. A distinguished musical career, - he played with Bill
Black and for 23 yrs with the Ian Thomson's Band.
Jim Nichol had lessons in Primary School and started playing with bands at the age of 14. He
plays with Colin Dewar, Ian Hutson and Neil Hardie.
Among the dancers, we were delighted to see old friends from the Dingwall & Inverness
clubs. You’re all very welcome and we hope to see you again in April.
Come and join us for the last ceilidh of this session on 25 April. The Susie Simpson Trio will
be the guests.
We’ll look forward to seeing you at the Pittentrail Village Hall, Rogart, at 8pm on Saturday
25 April. - Door (includes supper): Β£5 & Β£2 (under 16)
