Save Coombes Farm Rochford

Good morning,

With the draft publication recently of Rochford Green Belt Assessment the images attached are an extract from the document displaying assessment of Coombes Farm. If anything it shows the clear detachment of constraints such as flood zones, PSZ and the role Coombes Farm plays within the community for both residents, visitors and health eurhiasts who routinely use its bridleway surrounded by diverse grade 1 agricultural land and leading to internationally protected wetlands. It appears very little green belt is safe from the grey belt rhetoric.

The attempted erosion of green belt in unsustainable locations continues, to try and meet questionable nationally set targets of a minimum of 689 homes PA, approximately 15000 homes for Rochford over the new local plan lifespan when allowing for buffers.

Will still await confirmation of Coombes Farm discussion date before RDC development commitee however we will keep you updated. There is a committee date on 24/09 however it has not been confirmed whether Coombes Farm will be discussed.

I would ask, once the date for Coombes Farm is confirmed, if you’re able to, please attend the commitee meeting to show your support as you have been.

As we await RDC Development Comittee date, we have thus far had it confirmed that Coombes Farm will not be discussed at any meeting date scheduled in late June. As such we are awaiting confirmation of the date when Coombes Farm will discussed by the committee.

As soon as we have a date for the meeting we will post here.

I would ask, if you are able to, to attend the meeting, once known, so we can show our objection to yet more proposed loss of green belt and East Rochford’s character.

There is currently a barrage of proposals for significant developments in Rochford which are wholly unsustainable and will completely change the character of Rochford.

It’s important that we have as many of us attend the meeting to show our support for securing our green belt and stop these speculative proposals.

The 21 day deadline for comment submission regarding the planning application for Coombes Farm will be extended to 7th April as site notices were displayed from the 17th March.

If you’ve not already done so, please submit your objections via the link below by 7th April. Together we can protect Rochford’s green belt and keep Coombes Farm for the future.

The deadline for Objections is fast approaching. Decision makers WILL measure the strength of feeling about these proposals by the number of Objections. Please don't delay, see link below to register Objections. It need only take a couple of minutes but could save the site for many years and many future generations.

Coombes Farm History 2009/10 REFUSAL - APPEAL - REFUSAL
Last time round, after RDC's initial refusal, the Developer appealed & a Government Inspector led appeal proceedings at the council offices in Rayleigh. The Hearings took place over a few days in Spring 2010 and all interested parties spoke, including Mark Francois MP, local residents and Developers. Ultimately the Inspector ruled in support of RDC (in a decision which was later upheld by the Secretary of State) INAPPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN BELT being one of the primary reasons. The agricultural land quality at Coombes Farm is, according to Natural England, the highest quality possible (G1 coloured mauve) - and in fact there isn't that much G1 land available across the UK.
