As the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Girls comes to an end today, we want to reflect on this important campaign. The 16 days run each year from 25 November to 10 December, bringing people and organisations together to raise awareness, stand against abuse and highlight the support available to women and girls.

This year, we’ve taken part in local events and joined meaningful conversations, offering support, information and a listening ear to women contacting Rochdale Women’s Welfare. We’re grateful to everyone who welcomed us and to the women who shared their experiences with us.

Although the campaign ends today, our work at Rochdale Women’s Welfare continues all year round. We remain here for women and girls in our community, providing safety, guidance and support whenever it’s needed.

To find out more information on all our activities, services and events please contact us on 01706 860157 during office hours.

Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association plays a vital role in supporting BME women and girls across our community. Our work helps women build confidence, find their voice and move towards a life free from inequality and violence. Everything we do is delivered in a safe, welcoming and culturally appropriate space, where women are truly listened to and supported.

If you’re able to help, even a small donation makes a real difference. Every contribution directly supports the women who attend RWWA — women who are rebuilding their lives, finding independence and discovering their own strength. Your support genuinely helps to change someone’s future.

If you would like to donate, you can do so using the details below:

Rochdale Women’s Welfare Day Trip to Whitby

In August, Rochdale Women’s Welfare organised a day trip to Whitby for some of our women. The group enjoyed a relaxing day exploring the coastal town and all it had to offer.

Some of the women took an open-top bus tour, passing by the harbour filled with boats, the historic Whitby Abbey, and other well-known landmarks. Others chose to walk along the seafront, enjoying the fresh sea air and lively atmosphere, before spending some time on the beach.

There was also time for shopping, with many of the women picking up souvenirs to remember the day.

The outing created lasting memories for all who took part.

Today, 20 August, we held a wonderful fair where our members fundraised for Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association (RWWA). Thanks to generous donations of food, raffle prizes and other contributions, the event was a great success.

We were also pleased to welcome Cllr Sameena, who spoke with local women about their needs and consulted with them on future opportunities in the area. It was a fantastic chance to connect, celebrate community spirit, and support the important work RWWA does for women in Rochdale.
