Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association would like to warmly congratulate Saheli on 50 remarkable years of hard work, friendship, support and making a real difference in the lives of women and families across all communities.

We were honoured to attend the 50th anniversary celebration. It was a truly beautiful evening, filled with inspiring speeches, wonderful company and a lovely three-course meal.

Congratulations to Priya and the entire Saheli team on this incredible milestone. For 50 years, you have offered hope, compassion and support to women when they have needed it most. Your dedication to ensuring that no woman has to face abuse alone is truly inspiring.

Here’s to celebrating 50 years of making a lasting difference and to many more years of empowering, supporting and giving hope to women and communities.

Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association is offering a two-day Freedom Programme course, Living with the Dominator, delivered in Urdu.

The Freedom Programme provides an opportunity to learn more about controlling and abusive behaviours, understand the impact they can have and develop knowledge and confidence to move towards healthier, safer relationships.

Date: 22nd & 23rd September 2026
Time: 9:15am – 2:00pm

A Wonderful Summer Fair at RWWA

What a fantastic day for Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association as we hosted our Summer Fair in support of the Mayor’s Charities.

We were delighted to welcome Mayor Faisal Rana and Mayoress Iram Faisal, who joined us and showed their support for this special community event.

With over 130 people attending, the fair was a great opportunity for families and local residents to come together, enjoy the activities and browse the fantastic range of stalls, from food and ice cream to mehndi, massage, hijabs and skincare.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, our stallholders, volunteers and everyone who helped make the day such a success. Your support and enthusiasm helped create a truly lovely community atmosphere.

We were proud to host an event that brought people together while raising support for a great cause.

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Mohammed Arif, the respected founder of Arif Cash & Carry.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioun.

Mohammed Arif was a remarkable man whose kindness, generosity, humility, and respect for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a pillar of the community he lived in.

Mohammed Arif supported Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association every year for the last 32 years. Each year, he would donate to us from his cash and carry goods which we requested to support our events. He also supported women and girls with groceries for our food bank.

His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the example he set for others.

All staff, members, and board of trustees at Rochdale Women’s Welfare extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who are grieving this great loss. We pray that Allah (SWT) grants him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus, forgives his shortcomings, and grants his family strength, patience, and comfort during this difficult time.

Support is available, wherever you are in the UK.

At Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association, we know that not everyone who needs support lives locally. That’s why we’re proud to work in partnership with other specialist organisations across the UK.

Roshni Birmingham provide specialist, confidential support for women and girls experiencing honour-based abuse, domestic abuse, forced marriage and other harmful practices.

There is no honour in abuse.

If you have friends, family members or loved ones living in Birmingham who may need support, please share Roshni’s details with them. Knowing where to turn can make all the difference and no woman should ever feel like she’s facing abuse alone.

Saheli is celebrating 50 years!

Saheli is a Manchester-based charity that provides culturally sensitive support, refuge, advocacy and empowerment services for Black, Asian and minoritised women and children affected by domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.

On Saturday 12 September 2026 at the Vermilion Banqueting Suite, Manchester, Saheli will celebrate five decades of supporting Black, Asian and minoritised women and children affected by domestic abuse.

It promises to be a fantastic evening of celebration, entertainment, great food and fundraising.
