Tonight, Tuesday 9th June: Street and architecture photowalk in Bury. Guests are always welcome! 😄

Bury is a town with lots of photographic choice, and has given us some excellent photos in the past. We will meet at 7:30pm outside Marks & Spencer on The Rock shopping development, which offers some great leading lines and modern buildings.

Once we're all there, we will slowly make our way towards the historic parts of the town centre where museums, old buildings and charming restaurants are in plentiful supply.

There will be street scenes, bright lights, steamy windows, leading lines, churches, monuments and plenty of other interest for us.

With a little luck we will then have time for a chat before heading homeward.

This week's meeting - St Chad's Parish Church, Rochdale.

It's the first of our summer photowalks this week, beginning 3 months of using our cameras in a variety of different places. The weather forecast is not great, but we have a treat we can all enjoy.

St Chad's Parish Church sits at top of Rochdale Town Centre overlooking Broadfield Slopes and the Town Hall. Although mostly Victorian, it traces its foundations back to medieval times.

Bring a tripod, and a flash if you have one. Portable continuous lights might be useful too - even a torch if you can bring one along. We might be able to walk around the outside of the building but if it's raining, there will be plenty to capture inside.

We must thank Paul Bollington, one of the wardens responsible for the Church, for making this possible, and don't forget that Churches are expensive to run, so if you can bring a donation along, to help with the running costs, please do.

If you'd like to prepare and learn a bit about the Church, it has a good Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Chad%27s_Church,_Rochdale

Judge did a great job as always, giving helpful feedback throughout.
We welcomed viewers online as well as in the meeting room, which added another aspect to our Club night.

We welcomed our Mayor Janet Emsley Janet Emsley to Littleborough Coach House today, to officially declare our Annual Exhibition open. She spent some time enjoying the photographs and chatting to our members and guests, along with her Consort, husband Ken.
It was great to see our members, family and friends gathered together for the occasion.
Go and see the photos, and vote for your favourites in our People's Vote (for the winner's bragging rights), until May 9th!

On Tuesday, the club went out around Littleborough to take some pictures. We all had a great time as the weather was being kind to us. Here's some pictures I took - nothing too special, but a couple that I really like.

If this is what you'd like to try and are not yet a member, why not pop along and try us out. Our location and entire syllabus is available to view here https://www.rochdalecameraclub.org.uk/

It's fantastic to see work in physical form, instead of on our screens!

We had the pleasure of welcoming past Chair back to the Club tonight, to talk to us about PAGB and RPS accreditations. Ken has great experience of both, and he's inspired a few members to look at gaining more recognition for their photography.
