Following the landmark Lumb decision in 2024 and the more recent Court of Protection judgment concerning Direct Payments, what does this mean for case managers in practice?

A fantastic milestone for BABICM and for complex case management.
We are delighted to celebrate the publication of the Delphi study, “Defining complex case management in the UK: a modified Delphi approach”, in BMJ Open.

This important research has helped establish a consensus-based definition of complex case management in the UK, providing a valuable foundation for the continued development and recognition of our profession.

A huge thank you and congratulations to Rachel Leonard and Mark Linden from Queen's University Belfast for leading this important piece of research, and to all of the BABICM members who took part in the study and shared their expertise and experience.

Research like this is so important in strengthening the evidence base for complex case management and supporting its future development across practice, education, policy and research.

A really proud moment for BABICM and another positive step forward for our profession.
