One of the things we love most about Upstage is how so many of our students come back to see us when they’re home from college and university. 🥹❤️

And it’s always straight back into the studio, popping into classes, seeing everyone and catching up like they’ve never been away.

Watching our students grow up, head off on their next adventures and then still want to come back to the place where so much of it began is really special.

Harvey has been home for the last couple of weeks and, of course, he’s been straight back through the Upstage doors! He’s dropped in and taken part in several of his old classes, which has been so lovely for us and for our current students.

We are so very lucky to have such a wonderful Upstage family. No matter where life takes them, there’s always a place for them back at Upstage. ❤️🎭

❤️ PROUD DOESN’T EVEN CUT IT! ❤️

We are beyond proud of our incredible dancers who performed at the CYD? Super Convention in Liverpool this morning! ✨

They were absolutely INCREDIBLE. The energy, the performance, the clean choreography, the facials everything we have worked so hard on came together on that stage. 🔥

But what makes me even prouder is how they represented Upstage. Their professionalism, kindness, care for one another and the way they conducted themselves throughout the whole experience was just as important as what happened on that stage. They were an absolute credit to us. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to all of our parents for your endless support, we genuinely couldn’t do experiences like this without you.

And to our incredibly talented Coach Annie THANK YOU! The time, passion, energy and talent you have poured into this team has been phenomenal. We are so lucky to have you. ❤️

At Upstage, we’ve always believed in developing performers, not just individual disciplines.

Dance technique is incredibly important, but being a great dancer is about so much more than executing the steps.

Students who train in Acting and Musical Theatre develop skills that can transform the way they dance.

They learn to understand character, intention and storytelling.
They develop stronger musicality, expression and stage presence.
They become more confident communicating with an audience.
They learn how to perform choreography rather than simply dance it.

Watch professional musical theatre and commercial dancers and you’ll see it immediately, their face, focus, intention and character are working just as hard as their bodies.

That’s why we encourage our students to experience different areas of performance. Acting makes you a stronger storyteller. Musical Theatre develops you as an all-round performer. Dance gives you the technical vocabulary to communicate physically.

Put those skills together and you don’t just create a dancer.

You create a performer.
