Walking for Health, Blashford Lakes

Walking for Health, Blashford Lakes The Walking for Health group at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, near Ringwood, Hampshire, meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

We are a local Walking for Health group, part of the national Walking for Health scheme, and New Forest branch. We meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month for an hour's walk round the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, courtesy of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. It is a free, regular walk, open to all comers, with trained Walk Leaders, and an interest in seeing the wildlife on this Nature Reserve.

We had a lovely stroll round the nature reserve on Wednesday, and stayed for a chat and teas and cake. Many thanks for your donations for the teas, which raised £67 for the Wildlife Trust.

We meet in the Tern hide car park, and sometimes if you look out from Tern hide, all you can see is a distant duck or two. By contrast, today this Little Ringed Plover was on the lakeside, right in front of the hide.

We had a lovely, if a little warm, walk round the nature reserve this morning, stopping to watch damselflies and nesting gulls. Our next walk is on Wed 28th June, meeting as usual in the Tern Hide car park at 10:30am. After an hour strolling round the reserve, we will head to the Education Centre for teas and coffees. Come and join us, all welcome. It is free of charge, and you don't have to book, just turn up on the day.
