Kirkcudbright Bridge Update 29th August 2025

Further update meeting this afternoon with the senior officers responsible for the oversight of the bridge with the current situation and future progress.

# There have been issues with staff at the site continuing to be subject to abuse, although the body worn cameras seem to have reduced this considerably.

# The number of prohibited vehicles attempting to cross the bridge has reduced significantly as monitored by staff and mechanical counters.

# Thanks were given to staff for their assistance in managing the traffic on the evening of the Tattoo which ensured that the flow out of the town was improved.

# Work on the permanent traffic lights is on schedule and should be in place by October.

# The Bridge is on the agenda for the forthcoming Economy and Infrastructure committee on 2nd September 2025* and if agreed will be progressed to Full Council in October to be considered to be added to the Councils Capital programme (meaning that the funding will be made available for a new bridge)
