We are Elm Class from Maple Cross JMI School, and we are writing to ask for your help. As a school we are respectful, honest and caring. We are aspirational in our learning, brave, and we need your support.
Over the past few weeks, our school has been broken into several times. Windows and doors were damaged, and our classroom — already in a bad state and waiting to be replaced — was hit the hardest. Walls and equipment were damaged, and six of our Chromebooks were destroyed. We use these every day for times tables, maths, writing, research and music, so losing them has a big impact on our learning.
We know learning is more than words and numbers.
It is teamwork and understanding.
It lets our imaginations go wild.
Learning gives us the knowledge we need for our future life.
Learning helps us be a better community.
Learning helps us grow and shine.
This is where you come in. Any donation, however big or small, will help us repair our classroom and replace the items that were damaged. Imagine how good you would feel knowing you helped us feel safe again and able to focus on learning.

As the Business Manager at Maple Cross JMI, I wanted to share the children’s message and explain the wider impact on our school. Because our site backs onto a large, unoverlooked field, we have been targeted four times in recent weeks. Although the most recent offenders were caught, the damage across the school has been significant.
We are now facing:
Destroyed Chromebooks
Items stolen from our PTA cupboard
Damage to play equipment and outdoor storage
A gazebo destroyed
Damage to our Early Years garden
Insurance will cover some repairs, but each incident carries a £500 excess, leaving us with thousands of pounds to find before work can begin. Without support, this money will have to come from children’s learning, wellbeing and opportunities.
We are asking our community, families, friends and local businesses to help us cover these costs, replace damaged equipment and restore our learning spaces. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our fundraiser.
