Friends of Ham Lands

Friends of Ham Lands A voluntary group dedicated to supporting and enriching the biodiversity of Ham Lands Local Nature Reserve.

Our vision is that Ham Lands continues to mature as a mosaic of mixed grasslands, scrub and developing woodlands, in which wildlife can thrive and people can find quiet rest, relaxation and enjoyment. Friends of Ham Lands works in close partnership with Richmond Council, (who own and manage the Lands), and other conservation and wildlife groups who share this vision to conserve it’s unique biodive

rsity. We do this through practical habitat management and monitoring; education and sharing knowledge; fundraising for particular projects; and generally speaking up for Ham Lands.

💬 “Digging out bramble root is fun!”

It's been wonderful to see how the younger team members have been enjoying working on the Ham Lands. They are gaining confidence using tools safely, socialising with the wider community, and enjoying lots of fresh air and exercise!

Did you know engaging children in outdoor conservation activities may offer many benefits, including:
✅ improved mental and physical health
✅ enhanced learning
✅ promotes a connection with nature
✅ provides opportunities for social interaction and sensory development

Whether you have experience or just enthusiasm, your help makes a difference. Come along and be a part of preserving Ham Land’s natural beauty for generations to come. Children are very welcome if accompanied by an adult, so make use of our Saturday sessions which start at 10am on the second Saturday of every month. The sessions last for two hours, and include a tea and biscuit break.
