🌟 Reflecting on an Incredible 2025 🌟

As the year draws to a close, we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on what the unit has achieved throughout 2025.

πŸ‘ All our cadets and staff have achieved so much this year, showing sheer determination, courage, and teamwork in everything they have taken part in.

πŸŽ–οΈ Some major milestones for the unit include the promotion of two cadets to Leading Cadet β€” a rank the unit has not seen since COVID!
🚣 We also successfully delivered our first-ever Rowing Duke of Edinburgh expedition, marking the return of expeditions to the unit after another COVID break.

πŸ‘©β€βœˆοΈπŸ‘©β€βœˆοΈ We’ve seen incredible dedication from our staff, with Lt (SCC) Caera Kimmitt RNR and CPO (SCC) Nicole Buchan being awarded their Cadet Forces Medal after 12 years of volunteering service each β€” an amazing achievement.

⭐ Congratulations as well to S/Lt (SCC) James Pettit RNR on his promotion to Sub Lieutenant, recognising a huge amount of hard work and commitment.

⛡️ a fantastic achievement for some cadets to compete at the national sailing regatta and bring back some great stories to pass on to others.

πŸ’™ A huge thank you to our Unit Management Team. Without your continued support, we simply wouldn’t have a unit. Your hard work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated and a big welcome to our new Chair Lesley it is humbling to welcome you back

βš“ Cadets β€” you are what make Helensburgh Unit what it is.
Without your commitment, banter, and drive, we’d be a pretty average unit! Every event you commit to, every course you attend, and every competition you take part in is what makes Helensburgh Unit stand out. Keep being you!

Here’s to an even bigger and better 2026! πŸŽ‰

🌟 Helensburgh Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets Annual Awards Night 🌟

Helensburgh Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets held their annual Awards Night in December, before the unit broke up for the Christmas break. It was a fantastic evening celebrating the achievements and hard work of our cadets over the past year πŸŽ–οΈπŸ‘

This year, the cadets chose a formal theme, with both cadets and staff dressing smartly for the occasion πŸ‘”πŸ‘—, which added a special touch to the evening.

We were delighted to welcome the District Officer for Clyde North, Lt Cdr (SCC) Frank Boyd RNR, who kindly presented the awards. The event was well attended by parents and carers, whose continued support is greatly appreciated πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦βš“

🌊 Royal Naval Parade 2025 – Helensburgh Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets βš“οΈ

A couple of months ago we were incredibly proud to hold our Royal Naval Parade, celebrating another successful year of training, teamwork, and achievement from our amazing cadets. News just in we've had feedback of scoring and we have been awarded an Burgee πŸ™ŒπŸŽ‰

We were deeply honoured to welcome our VIP guest, Mrs Jill Young MBE, Lord-Lieutenant of West Dunbartonshire, along with our Inspecting Officer, Commander Gary Farmer RD RN, Northern Area Officer, who both spent the evening observing our cadets in action and speaking with them about their experiences and ambitions.

πŸ’―Our cadets showcased their drill, demonstrated their skills, and truly embodied the values of the Sea Cadets: commitment, confidence, courage, and community. Every single cadet should be proud of the effort they put in β€” your hard work really shone through.

⭐️We were also delighted to celebrate some very special achievements:
CPO (SCC) Buchan was awarded her Cadet Forces Medal, recognising her long and dedicated service.
Lt (SCC) Kimmitt RNR, our Commanding Officer, received both her Platinum Jubilee Medal and Cadet Forces Medal, marking her commitment and service.
The District Officer - Lt Cdr (SCC) Boyd RNR receiving his Captains Commendation

πŸ™A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, parents and supporters who make everything we do possible. Your continued dedication ensures our young people have fantastic opportunities, unforgettable experiences, and the chance to achieve great things. As the Commanding Officer, I am immensely proud of every single cadet and staff member within our unit we wouldn't achieve anything without every member.

πŸ«‚Here’s to another year of adventure, learning, and success at Helensburgh Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets
Bravo Zulu, everyone, what a team! βš“οΈπŸ’™

πŸ“œ CO’s Post – Poppy Day & Remembrance Sunday

This weekend, our cadets once again made us all incredibly proud.

🌺 On Poppy Day and Remembrance Sunday, our Sea Cadets represented their unit, community, and the Royal Navy family with pride, respect, and professionalism beyond their years. From supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, to standing tall during parades and services of remembrance, every single cadet showed the values that make our Corps what it is β€” Commitment, Courage, Discipline, Respect, Integrity, and Loyalty.

🫑It was deeply moving to see our young people take part in honouring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country. The dignity and pride with which they carried themselves was a fitting tribute to our fallen heroes, and a testament to the character and spirit within our unit.

πŸ‘ A heartfelt thank you to our staff, volunteers, and parents for their continued dedication and support, and to the local community for welcoming and encouraging our cadets throughout these important events.

⭐️ A special mention to our Guard and Guard Commander, and Wreath carriers/layers top job!

βš“οΈTo our cadets β€” you have done your CO, your unit, and your community extremely proud. Bravo Zulu. βš“οΈπŸŒΊ

πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ Helensburgh Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets Complete Bronze DofE Rowing Expedition πŸš£β€β™€οΈ

Our cadets have successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Rowing Expedition on Loch Lomond 🌊, where they truly experienced all the weather Scotland had to offer β˜€οΈπŸŒ§οΈπŸ’¨πŸŒˆ! Despite the challenging conditions, the cadets kept their spirits high πŸ˜ƒ, showed great teamwork 🀝, and embraced the adventure from start to finish 🧭.

This was an especially significant achievement, as it marks the first time since before COVID 🦠➑️πŸ’ͺ that the unit has run a Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

We’re now looking ahead ⏩—supporting a new group of Bronze cadets πŸ₯‰ as they begin their journeys and preparing our Silver candidates πŸ₯ˆ for their next challenge.

Bravo Zulu πŸ‘βš“ to all involved!
