Ganu Hall

Ganu Hall Our small, historic community hall has stood at the foot of the iconic Melincwrt Waterfall for generations.

Now a run by a group of dedicated volunteers, we're a hub for community activities including bingo, coffee mornings and a warm hub.

It's a sunny and hot bank holiday weekend!!!!!
We will definitely be open at the Ganu Hall on Monday from noon. Hot and cold drinks, a selection of home made cakes, plus biscuits, crisps and ice creams, all for a small donation. The Mens Shed group are back in the Ganu Hall this Thursday from 2.00 to 5.00. Whether it's just a chat, a cuppa and company you want or to be fully involved in all the activities and work being done you will get a warm welcome so come along and find out what it's like.

Other news, the weather is looking lovely for Bank Holiday Monday so we're hoping to open for drinks and refreshments and you know what that means - well it could mean a lovely walk to the waterfall and back or it could just mean home made chocolate cake, bara brith and Welsh cakes, or it could mean both - you really won't be disappointed. If we're definitely opening we'll be confirming times here so keep your eyes peeled for news.

Lovely afternoon at the Ganu Hall with a lot of families and couples calling in with many new faces as well as regulars. Some really interesting chats and lots of smiles and laughs. All the home made cakes went, the word must be getting around how nice they are. You'll need to come early next time if you want to taste what all the fuss is about!!
Most likely it will be sometime over the Spring Bank Holiday and you'll hear about it here first so keep your eyes peeled and remember to put the date in your diaries

We are delighted to host the Resolven Men's Shed group at The Ganu tomorrow, Thursday, between 2pm and 5pm. Call in for a chat and cuppa, or help them repair and construct community projects, build a bird box or a bat box or even construct a bug hotel. They are also hoping to do some old style whittling and love spoon carving. Or just come along for some company, you will get a warm welcome if you want to pop in and see what's happening.

We've had a lovely day today!

The sun has shone, the skies are blue, and we've had a steady stream of visitors popping in.

The homemade cakes have gone down a storm, with Pete's Bara Brith taking the gold star!

We'll let you know when we're open again soon.

It's our last opening as a Warm Spaces session funded by the Welsh Government through NPTCBC this afternoon. Winter is hopefully behind us now and it definitely feels like spring with the days getting longer and warmer. We'll be open though one more time this afternoon. As usual there's soup and a roll, biscuits, cakes and hot and cold drinks all free, all in the warmth and there'll be a warm welcome as well! It will be lovely to see you if you can make it.

But keep your eyes open for new posts, we've got lots of ideas for the future from everyone's feedback. The Warm Spaces may be ending but there will be other things happening in the coming weeks and months.

23/03/2026

The funding for the free Warm Spaces sessions stops at the end of this month. We're hoping to be able to do something similar if we can at some stage in the future but at the moment tomorrow and next Tuesday are the only definite dates in the diary. So whether you've been lots of time or haven't found the chance to up to now, it will be lovely to see you. Everyone is welcome. Hot soup and a roll, biscuits, cakes as well as hot and cold drinks are all on offer and all free.

A final chance to fill out out survey!

The Ganu is the small community space at the entrance to Melincwrt Waterfall, where it has stood since 1898.

Please take 10 minutes to help us build a picture of how the Ganu can support the community, culture, tourism and history of Melincwrt and surrounding areas.

Whether you live in the village, nearby or come to visit from time to time, we'd be grateful of your thoughts.

We’re asking our community - whether that’s people who live here, or visit from time to time - to help us shape the historic Ganu Hall for now and the future. The Ganu has proudly stood at the entrance to Melincwrt waterfalls for generations. It is one of the oldest buildings in Melincwrt, and i...
