From money raised at Winter Pride Surrey and our World AIDS Day vigil we are delighted to announce that we will be donating £260.00 to METRO Charity formally St Peters House Project in Reigate.

Founded in 1987 St Peters House Project provides services for people living and affected by HIV within Surrey.

We're delighted to announce that we are merging with METRO Charity! We will sit as a distinct part of the METRO family of services within METRO's HIV Domain, continuing to provide support to people living with HIV in Surrey and West Suss*x:

On Tuesday evening St Peter's House Project's Chair, Heather Loxely, and METRO Charity's Chair, Gwen Bryan, signed an agreement that marks the culmination of a robust process that sees our two charities merge.

Last year there was a 5% increase in new STI cases, with gonorrhoea seeing the highest increase at 26%.

Regular testing and safe s*x practices are absolutely crucial:

A systematic review of whether different interventions helped to overcome self-stigma in people in African and Asian countries who are living with or at risk of HIV has found that most interventions worked. A public enquiry into contaminated blood products infected with HIV and heptatis viruses given to people in the 1980s and 90s has opened. The enquiry is hearing from people whose lives have been devastated not just by these illnesses but, more than anything, by the stigma attached to them. By the mid-1980s, the products started to be heat-treated to kill the viruses and screening of blood products began in 1991. By the late 1990s, synthetic treatments for haemophilia became available, removing the infection risk.

Those infected speak about their struggles as the public inquiry into the scandal begins.
