I’d like to start by saying a Heartfelt thank you to everyone who has given their time, hard work, dedication and support to our community.
A special thank you to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, and particularly to Eli, for the continued support and commitment to our community.
Thank you also to Raven Housing Trust, Surrey Choices, and all the other partners and organisations who have come along today.
Each and every one of you brings something valuable to our community. I would encourage all of our residents to take the opportunity to come and speak to the organisations here today, find out what they offer and understand what services and support are available locally. You never know when one of these services might be able to help you, your family or someone you know.
The work of the Cromwell community group:
The CCG works alongside residents, local community partners and wider networks to help improve this area and make Cromwell a better place to live.
Over time, we have worked closely with Eli and the the council on improvements in this area such this park, getting grit bins for the winter seasons etc , and we have also worked with Raven Housing Trust on improvements across the estate. with the aim of making the space more welcoming and helping residents feel safer when using it.
Most importantly, we have been trying to listen to you — our residents. We want to hear about your experiences of living here, understand what matters to you and, most importantly, encourage you to get involved in helping make Cromwell a better place to live.
We are now also looking at what we can potentially add or improve within this park. We want to create a space that the community can enjoy and be proud of.
However, I do want to be realistic and say that these improvements may take some time.
Funding will be one of our biggest challenges, and securing that funding will be a major focus for us.
But just because something takes time doesn’t mean we stop trying.
We will continue to look for opportunities, speak to partners and explore funding so that, hopefully, we can turn some of your ideas into reality.
Cromwell in Colour:
Another thing we are very proud to have organised is our Cromwell in Colour competition.
The competition was created to give residents a little extra motivation to brighten up their gardens and outdoor spaces, while also bringing some colour and pride to our estate.
And, of course, there was the added incentive of winning a prize for the best gardens!
I would like to say a huge well done to all of our winners, and also to everyone who took part. Your efforts really do make a difference to the look and feel of our community.
A member from the CCG, alongside Eli and Councillor Rich, has been around the estate to view the gardens and make their selections. Today, we’ll be announcing the winners and presenting their prizes.
Today has been about bringing our community together — meeting one another.
Your time, your ideas and your involvement are what make our community stronger.
Every single one of you brings something valuable to our community.
