Thank you very much to Elaine and her family for raising a very generous £700 at their Harvest Festival fundraising event at the The Bettle and Chisel Inn, Delabole.

They've just sent us this lovely photo of them presenting their donation with her son, Finley.

We're very grateful for your kind support and for choosing to run an event in aid of us. Support from families and groups within the community allow us to continue to deliver support throughout Cornwall.

Thank you very much to the incredible M&L - Move in Line for raising a wonderful £1,410 supporting bereaved children, young people and their families across Cornwall at their 'Glitz and Glam Night' at the Atlantic Hotel earlier this month!

Sounds like a brilliant evening and event - and we can't believe the amazing impact the fundraising night has made!

Wear something 'Inside Out' for Penhaligon's Friends this Children's Grief Awareness Week (16th - 22nd November 2026).

Have Penhaligon’s Friends supported your school, setting or community before?

Last year, our small Cornish charity supported 1,304 children and young people through a range of different support services. We also supported many more including 15 schools following critical incidents such as the death of a student or staff member.

When a child experiences the death of a parent, sibling, or someone close, their world is turned upside down. What they show on the outside can be very different from what they’re feeling on the inside.

Inside Out Day for Penhaligon’s Friends encourages pupils and staff to wear one item of clothing inside out, reminding everyone that it’s okay to show how they feel.

We’re at the Newells Travel Cruise Show throughout today, where they will be raising money for us in a fantastic charity raffle.

Thank you Mount Reading Room, who have been supporting Penhaligon's Friends as their Charity of the Year, for donating an amazing £700 as we marked 30 years.

The impact community groups and clubs can have on our work is outstanding and we're really appreciative of all groups who put in time and effort to run fundraising events for us. Every donation really does make an impact.

The group ran a number of fundraisers throughout the year, including the Little Do, with all profits from the Dog Show, cream teas, BBQ and craft tables going directly into our work.

Jane, our Volunteer Coordinator, met with the group at their breakfast last weekend to be handed the generous cheque.

Leo's Story 💙💜

Between 2025/26, Penhaligon's Friends supported 1,304 children and young people, an 18% rise since 2024/25. As we deliver a record number of support services, it's important to share the stories of families who benefit from that support and the difference that makes.

Our new Impact Report shares a very powerful story from Leo*

Leo’s dad died suddenly when he was 8 years old. His mum, Sue, described the loss as a huge shock that left the family devastated. In the months that followed, Leo struggled to make sense of what had happened, and school quickly became difficult.

In those early days, Sue found great comfort in being able to pick up the phone and speak to someone from the PFteam to share what was happening within her family. Those early conversations helped them take the first steps towards joining Family Group.

Sue described Family Group as an incredibly supportive environment which helped her feel better equipped to support her whole family. She found the group to be a caring and compassionate space where no one was judged. At Family Group, Leo met Eliza who had also experienced bereavement, and discovered that she would be attending the same school he was about to join. This connection made a real difference, particularly during the transition to a new environment.

Leo also benefited from one-to-one support and, in the years that followed, enjoyed building friendships through monthly Teens Groups, activity days, and a residential.

Leo continues to attend the monthly Teens Group and has found that sharing his experiences of grief has become an important part of his journey. Earlier this year, he completed PF Peer Mentor Training so that he can support other young people following bereavement. Both Sue and Leo feel very grateful for the support they have received from Penhaligon’s Friends. Together they feel it has helped them navigate the darkest days while giving them a foundation of hope and strength for the future.

Working collaboratively 🫶💜

Penhaligon's Friends supports children, young people and their families across Cornwall when someone close to them has died - to do this we also work in partnership with organisations across Cornwall and Devon.

At the recent World Mental Health Day, we spent some time with the Collab, which we are involved with. Penhaligon’s Friends is proud to be part of The Collab, a partnership of organisations working together to support young people’s wellbeing across Cornwall.

As an organisation, we are committed to investing time to grow relationships and connections throughout the many networks in Cornwall at a strategic and operational level in order to provide a coordinated and collaborative support service.

Secondly, Penhaligon’s Friends currently work collaboratively with other child bereavement organisations in Devon, and have formed an alliance, called Together for Grief. (Jeremiah's Journey Families in Grief Balloons Charity & Children and Families in Grief).

We are so grateful to the continued, incredible support from Oll an Gwella who generously donated £2,000 to Penhaligon's Friends at our recent AGM.

Our AGM this year also marked a very successful 20 years for our CEO Julie, who's seen our services supporting bereaved children, young people and their families across Cornwall grow over the years.

Thank you again to Oll an Gwella for such a lovely performance at our offices in Redruth, you're welcome back any time! Thank you Newquay Voice Choir for sharing this post.

Just home following a visit to Penhaligons Friends at Redruth with 8 members of Oll an Gwella.
Brian, David, Billy and Jim were unavailable leaving Spud, Tony, Justin, Glenn, Derek, Les, Dick and Richard to attend.
We were invited to attend a celebration and sing a few songs.
We also took the opportunity to present a cheque for £2,000 to them, a similar cheque has been posted to Cornwall Blood Bikes.
Since November 2015 we have directly given £80,995 to various, mainly Cornish, charities.
It was great to meet so many of the people who contribute to Penhaligons Friends and to visit their offices.
We would like to thank you all for you friendly, welcoming hospitality and the vital service you provide to the wider Cornish community.
