Fiona is an eleven year old Bodegera (Spanish Jack Russell) who has bravely fought her way through life with Leishmania. She lost the majority of her sight several years ago and ended up with glaucoma in her left eye . Cornwall Animal hospital have been absolutely brilliant . Vet Faye directed us to the ophthalmic specialist in Falmouth who confirmed very high eye pressure and, long story short, lead vet Uwe at CAH removed her eye. The recovery was swift and complete so now we can be sure our brave girl is out of pain. The care she has received from receptionist to lead vet at CAH has been amazing and we thank you all for your care and compassion.

CAH BRAVEHEART
This is little Eddie, who spent the day with us for a surgical procedure on his right knee (stifle) - a Tibial Tuberosity Advancement: The cruciate ligament in a dog's knee is the most important ligament to keep this joint stable. Once it is ruptured, the body cannot heal it and it cannot be replaced directly. In order to work around this problem, various techniques have been developed to restore the normal function of the joint. At CAH we use a technique called TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement). We make a shallow cut through the front of the tibial bone (shinbone) and insert a wedge made from titanium. In this way, the insertion point of the patellar tendon (which connects the kneecap to the shinbone) is brought forward by a few millimeters. This tendon is now taking over the function of the lost cruciate ligament inside the joint. In our experience, this method works remarkably well, bringing the knee back to normal function while requiring only a comparatively short convalescence time of 3 to 4 months.
Eddie was operated on by our lead vet and looked after by our team of nurses, he took all the attention in his stride, enjoying lots of cuddles!

We have had a female approximately 2-6 year old long-coated golden chihuahua brought in to us this afternoon after being attacked by a dog. There is no microchip.

Please share this post to reach others and contact the practice if you are the owner of this dog.

Many thanks,

Pop in and have look at our Halloween dog toys - we still have a few left. Keep your pets safe this Halloween by investing in a soft toy instead of some edible treats that may be too rich for their digestion.
Cooked pumpkin can be an excellent treat for cats and dogs because it is both tasty and low in calories, making it a healthy alternative to traditional treats.
