Curious about poetry but not sure where to begin? Or already writing and looking for some new ways to approach your poems?

Ways into Poetry with Rosie Hadden
⏰Wed 30 Sep 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

This friendly, playful workshop with Rosie Hadden is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience. We’ll explore ways to develop a daily poetry practice and begin to delve into some simple poetic forms, all in a light-hearted and fun way.

Through close reading of poems, poetry games and plenty of opportunities to experiment, you’ll have the chance to play with words, try out different approaches and explore your own writing in a supportive space.

No previous experience is needed and there’s no pressure to produce a “finished” poem. Just bring a notebook, a pen and a willingness to play.

About Rosie Hadden
Rosie won the Teignmouth Open Competition in 2022 and was Highly Commended in the Rialto Nature & Place Competition 2023. She was a finalist in the Mslexia Single Poem Competition 2024, longlisted in 2025 and nominated for The Forward Best Single Poem 2025.

Her recent work has appeared in Under the Radar, The North, Mslexia, Ink, Sweat & Tears, A New Ulster, Modron, And Other Poems, Acumen, Orbis and others.
Rosie is Chair of Falmouth Poetry Group and Poet in Residence for Wildlife Groundswell. She is currently working towards her first pamphlet and volunteers at the Cornwall Poetry Library. She has worked most of her adult life running creative arts workshops in the Arts for Health field.

Young writers and creatives…join Kernow Youth Collective!

Are you aged 14–25 and interested in Cornwall’s creative sector?

One of my day jobs is working for Creative Kernow up at Krowji, and my incredible colleague Steph will be running the new Kernow Youth Collective.

This is for any young person with an interest in creativity; whether that’s art, music, film, theatre, design, writing, gaming, photography, dance or something else entirely. You don’t need to be studying the arts or already know what career you want. You just need to be interested and keen to get involved.

You’ll meet in person at Krowji in Redruth, connect online with other creative young people from across the Duchy, share ideas and work together on the things that matter to you.
It’s a chance to:

- Meet and collaborate with other creative young people
- Develop creative ideas and possible new opportunities
- Make sure young people’s voices are heard
- Explore the challenges facing creativity and the arts
- Build confidence, skills, leadership experience and professional
networks
- Pitch ideas and solutions directly to decision-makers

Most importantly, it should be creative, collaborative and fun; not just another meeting where adults decide what young people need!

The first session is at Krowji on Monday 26 October, with a mixture of online and in-person sessions to follow.

Take a look at the flyer, scan the QR code or email Steph at [email protected] to find out more.

Please share this with any creative young people who might be interested!

Co-writing is back on 10th September!

Join us in person at The Writers' Block for a series of gentle and engaging co-writing sessions!

We're very excited to launch a new monthly series of in person writing sessions at The Writers' Block over the summer. Whether you're keen to get some words on the page, looking for a space to write or just need the discipline of turning up to write, each session will provide you with time and space to work on your writing in the company of others.

The sessions will last approximately 1.5hours with an opportunity for a check in at the beginning and then time at the end to have a little catch up (should you wish).

Led by Lucy Beckley, our Creative Lead for Communities and Emerging Writers', each session will provide a warm and welcoming space for you to meet other writers and then spend dedicated time on your writing.
