What a magnificent if not slightly worrying hot summer. Children back at school, people home from holidays and groups beginning to resume. Routine and regular groups are important, they help anchor our lives and whilst the fun of Summer is to be celebrated, we now move towards Autumn, hot chocolate, wooly hats and socks but maybe another short heat wave before then πŸ˜‰.

Penlee Baby Work is resuming next week and from the 11th September our Friday Group restarts at 10.00 through to afternoon Peer Support finishing at 2.45.

For our first session, Natalia will delivering a Watercolour Workshop with Sarah and Sophie managing the hospitality side of the morning and helping Natalia. Kim and Sophie are there in the afternoon.

The following week will be poems, games and music 🎡 and afternoon, Peer Support.

I am back the following week and think we should have doughnuts and maple syrup to start the morning. The theme will be all things America in the morning!

We also need to plan our schedule and will be putting thought into what we want to do between Sept and December. It is important we shape the sessions together. Please do start πŸ€” .

Here at Penlee, we cannot wait to see you after the short break. Few pictures from before the break but also Open Day at Drym supported by a few of us.

Although the Friday Group are taking a break, friendships and connection continue and today and yesterday, we spent time checking in with those who we knew would benefit from meeting up.

Yesterday we visited Suzie at home, Terry was delighted to see her and we wish her well as she recovers.

Peer Support is important and within the group, we have younger adults making friends and enjoying the company of those who enjoy β€˜switch gaming’, radio and music. We also never miss an opportunity to mix generations so off we went to the Redruth Buttermarket and enjoyed meeting Carol and Tony. Carol looks very well after your recent hip op πŸŽ‰β™₯️.

We then went to see Ben at work on his radio station. Amy Gabriel and Jack were great at being interviewed about their interests and plans for a group where they can develop their β€˜ switch’ games, teach others ( older people?) and spread the joy- this group are a great joy to be with and the day was sprinkled with fun and laughter, ideas and music 🎡.

Tomorrow is Hayle trip with fish n chips! Cannot wait.

We will be back at Camborne around 1.00 and will head to our safe and lovely space at Heartlands for rest and recovery after our action packed morning 🌞. Kim will meet us there with cake, tea and coffee and we plan to play games, chat and start to think about plans for September. Pick up as usual at 2.45.

We are taking a break. Penlee is busy planning various initiatives, we are looking at working in partnership with others and have budgets and funding to look at too. There are exciting and happy times ahead with new opportunities for us all but we do need a few weeks to catch up with various tasks and to take a short break.

We will resume on the 11th September at 10.00 at Heartlands and Sarah and Kim, with the help of volunteers will be working with you until my return later in September.

I plan to stay in touch with a few of you, perhaps a meet up for a coffee and to check in how you are and will arrange this individually.

Stay connected, enjoy the Summer and see you all in September, if not tomorrow.

Quote β€˜ Everything is figureoutable’. It is ! The weeks in between our regular meet ups will all work out πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŽπŸŒžπŸ‘.

We had a Great Summer Session on Friday.

Meeting at Heartlands and a drive to Jay Bird Deli for morning coffee was our prelude to a circuit fitness session with Jon. We loved the session and everyone entered into it, regardless of any physical limitations with real gusto πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰. Well done πŸ‘ as the effort and engagement was fabulous.

We then made our own healthy sandwiches or salad and ate in Greenfield Gardens with a cup of tea followed by delicious biscuits after which we played games.

It really was a lovely afternoon of fun and friendship and a visit to David and Carol, added in care to people we care about as they recover. David was a big part of our beginnings as a project and Carol, a current member, is recovering from an operation. We do not forget people- they matter and are in our thoughts when not with us.

Next week we head for Hayle by train for those who can manage and transport by car if not. Fish and Chips for lunch.

Meet at Camborne Station at 9.40 (I will message everyone), Heartlands at 10.00 if coming by car.

Enjoy the coming week and the sunshine remembering to put water out for nature.

The sun continues to shine!

This Friday we meet at Heartlands for those who need transport. Leave at 10.00 for Portreath to meet those already in the village.

We start with a catch up and a coffee, a walk and then a great session with Jon in the Millennium Hall. This week we are doing circuits which will be manageable for us all and is great fun. Jon will adapt the session so that we can all join in and exercise at pace right for each one of us.

Later in the day for Peer Support we have a picnic in the park and games.

We can take another stroll, a paddle or just relax together, chat and play. Play is not just for children and we all strengthen our well- being and our mental health through enjoyment, being together and having fun. 🀩

See you in the sunshine β˜€οΈ tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are hoping for 😎.

We meet at Heartlands at 10.00 for those needing transport and if not collected in Portreath by 2.30 we will transport those needing transport back to Heartlands for 2.45.

We are looking forward to a beach day as well as our regular yoga session and a picnic lunch. Please come dressed in suitable attire and relaxed clothes for our yoga session. Not everyone will want to join yoga but those who do attend regularly can look forward to stretching our bodies and relaxation at 11.45.

Lovely to see the much needed rain today but very hopeful for sunshine tomorrow.

We will be situated on the little beach next to Waterfront where we can buy tea and coffee. All other refreshments and food is provided.

See you there and the new families and children joining us too. A truly Intergenerational fun day to enjoy πŸŽ‰β€οΈπŸŒžπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ₯€πŸ¦
