Why are we proud to be a Living Wage Employer?

Because the work we do depends on the people who work with us!

We’re a small charity, and we know that every decision we make has to be carefully considered. But we believe paying our staff fairly is not an optional extra - it’s part of being a responsible employer.

That’s why we’re proud to be a Living Wage Employer, committed to paying at least the real Living Wage.
It’s one small but important way we can recognise the contribution of our team, support their wellbeing and put our values into action.

We’re proud of what our staff achieve every day, and we’re proud to stand behind fair pay. 💚

At a loose end in September? Maybe you’re between jobs, sending your children back to school or university, or just fancy trying something new?

Our Include Choirs in Epsom and Redhill are always looking for more volunteers - and you don’t have to be a singer or know how to use Makaton signing! There are plenty more jobs to do while you feel the joy that comes from being an Includer, and see the difference that you can make. Whether you can attend once a month, once a week, our regular weekday evening sessions or just at weekend events, we would love to hear from you.

Watch our video by volunteer Matthew and Epsom Choir Director Matt to find out more 🎵

Save the date for our next Stroll and Sign!
At 11am on Saturday 26th September.

We'll be exploring the history of Mercers Lake, learning about the railways, waterways, quarry and more...

It is a beautiful walk by the water with plenty of shade. We hope you can join us 🙂

Thank you to the very enthusiastic team from The Light Redhill for taking part in our bespoke Inclusive Communication Training earlier this month!

🫶🏻 For local businesses, the way you communicate can make all the difference. The words and signs you use, the images you share, the way you listen and respond, and the way you make information accessible all help shape whether someone feels welcomed and included when visiting your setting.

💬 Inclusive communication means thinking beyond simply what we say - and considering who can understand it, access it, and feel represented by it in your local community.

🙏 Small changes like committing your staff team to an afternoon of training can have a big impact - when everyone feels heard, understood, and valued, everyone feels like they belong. 🤝

We talk a lot about how to be an Includer, but it’s just as important to hear from our community about the impact that being included has on them. On National Nonprofit Day we want to celebrate the huge difference that nonprofits and charitable organisations can make, whatever their mission is.

Thank you to our members who regularly give us such valuable feedback, and to our volunteers and staff who help make our activities and services possible. We couldn’t do it without you!

It means so much when people choose to support Include.org.

🫶🏻 Beth joined us 4 years ago and helps us in many ways - she is a part of the Redhill Choir, the Champions Coproduction Group, our Lived Experience Trustees and more.

⏱️ Beth and her mum gave up a huge amount of time creating handmade items to sell on a stall at a local fair, and raised over £150!

💬 Beth says: "𝗜 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. Thank you to Beth and family for all that they do.

The Include Choirs may be off for the summer, but our members are still hard at work singing and signing!

Thank you to Holly for asking to sing the August Song on our behalf and making sure we keep using our Makaton signing. Being an Includer means using inclusive communication all year round in all places, not just at rehearsals. 🌟

We were thrilled that our Lived Experience Trustees and two of our Redhill Choir volunteers were able to attend the Reigate and Banstead Volunteer Awards for volunteer services to Include.

The Lived Experience Trustees work incredibly hard at charity governance - being actively involved in shaping decisions, influencing strategy and holding us accountable! We are very grateful to them and their time.

Our Redhill Choir Volunteers Carol and Ana are a great example of what we need from volunteers at Include.org - they come to help out regularly at events and our weekly sessions and bring with them a 'can-do', positive and friendly attitude.

Volunteers are a vital part of a small charity team and without them we simply couldn't run all of the services that we run, bringing joy and community to so many people with communication needs.

We're always happy to welcome more friendly faces to our teams, so please do get in touch if you are looking for a fulfilling and rewarding volunteer role that provides active involvement.

Thank you to all our volunteers, for everything you do!
