Through Nightstop, a young person in crisis is offered a safe place to stay with a trained and vetted volunteer host who opens their home for the night.

This simple act of kindness provides safety, stability, and support at a critical moment. 💫

"When I first got here, I was just surviving. Now I have goals—I want to find somewhere permanent to live, make a career from my art. For the first time, I can dream."

Sofia knows what it’s like to be excluded for who you are. Forced to leave home after coming out as Trans, she faced months of instability from sofa surfing, temporary shelters, and the constant struggle to feel safe.

With support from our services, Sofia is now rebuilding her life. She’s an artist, dancer, and fencer, finding joy and self-expression in the things she loves. She’s also helping to shape our services for other young people.

Now a client representative, she’s sharing her experiences to inform our research so that we can create more inclusive services for young people from the LGBTQ+ community.

For someone sleeping rough, having a safe place to stay can be the first step towards a more positive future.

New Prime Minister Andy Burnham has committed to end rough sleeping - and his own initiative, A Bed Every Night (ABEN), is helping make that possible. Launched in 2018 while he was Mayor of Greater Manchester, ABEN gives people sleeping rough a safe place to stay and support towards longer-term housing.

In Oldham, our ABEN team is providing that vital support. Almost 72% of people we've supported have moved on into accommodation rather than back to the streets.
