Redditch Lifesavers would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to the volunteers at bay surf lifesaving club for their amazing hospitality this weekend when 13 young people, their families and 4 coaches made the trip to Barry in order to complete the beach element of their Bronze Star and Bronze Medallion qualifications.
We all had a fantastic time with Whitmore Bay putting on a full programme of activities for us, including a comprehensive beach theory session and trips to the National Coastwatch Station and Barry Dock RNLI.
They also provided full lifeguard cover, keeping watch over us when we were in the sea and some fun competitive races with Vale SLSC on the Sunday afternoon (we were thoroughly beaten 🤣)
Every person who attended said it was a brilliant experience. We are very grateful to all those who gave up their own time both in the lead up to, and during the weekend, to support us.
