Do you help look after a family member, partner or friend?
You may be an unpaid carer.

A new South Tees Carers Strategy is being developed to help unpaid carers get the right support.

The new priorities include:
• better information
• support for health and wellbeing
• help with money, work and school
• more time for breaks and rest

People are being asked to look at the priorities and share their views.
Feedback will help improve support for unpaid carers across South Tees

Make a Difference This

Around 30,000 unpaid carers are supporting loved ones across South Tees and many more of us will take on that role at some point in our lives.

This Carers Week (8–14 June 2026), you can show your support by taking the South Tees Carers Pledge. It only takes a few minutes, but it can help build understanding, raise awareness and create more carer friendly communities.

⭐️💙 Dementia Action Week 2026 is almost here 💙⭐️

We’re proud to share our brand-new webpage dedicated to Dementia Action Week 2026, taking place from 18–24 May.

The page brings together information, support, useful resources, and event timetables from across Teesside—making it easy to see what’s happening near you and how to get involved.

At Dementia Action Teesside, we believe that raising awareness, encouraging understanding, and supporting early diagnosis can make a real difference for people living with dementia and their families.

Dementia Action Week is a chance for all of us to come together, start conversations, challenge stigma, and show support within our communities.

Take a look at the new page 👇

Well done to everyone who took part in our steps challenges in March and April - movement makes a difference!

Congratulations to Adele and Jennie taking joint 1st place both completing 5000+ steps on all 58 days of the challenge and Congratulations to Geoff in 1st place who completed 10000 + steps on 56 of the 58 days followed by a close second from Trevor with 55 out 58 days.

A special mention to Ann who completed 51 of 58 days in the 5000 steps challenge, 35 of those days being over 10000 – many of those steps were walked with her foot in a medical boot!
