🌊🌿 Youth Rangers explore Saltburn! 🌿🌊

Our Youth Rangers recently enjoyed a fantastic day at Saltburn Valley Gardens and Saltburn Beach, combining fun, creativity and opportunities to share their views as we celebrate 35 years of The Junction. πŸ’™

As part of our Blue Influencers project, the Rangers took part in a range of relaxed beach activities, giving them the chance to socialise, enjoy our local coastline and share vital feedback about our services.

The young people collected sea glass, tried their hand at rock pooling (although there wasn’t quite as much to discover as we’d hoped! πŸ¦€), and got creative with some brilliant pebble art. πŸͺ¨πŸŽ¨

We then headed through the beautiful Valley Gardens to the Woodland Centre, where the Rangers learned about Hapa Zome, an ancient Japanese art form. 🌸 They chose their own flowers and created designs on cotton fabric, using a hammer to transfer the natural colours and patterns from the flowers onto the material.

It was a brilliant day of creativity, connection and exploring our local environment β€” while giving our Youth Rangers a chance to have their voices heard. πŸ’š

A huge thank you to the Holiday Activity Fund, Ernest Cook Trust and for supporting and helping to fund these activities. πŸ™Œ

🌿✨ A Wonderful Day of Nature, Creativity & Connection ✨🌿

Our families from our Family Focus Group enjoyed a truly special day at Saltburn Valley Gardens Woodland Centre with local artist James Brunt, exploring creativity through nature.

The morning was filled with relaxed woodland fun as families foraged for natural treasures and worked together to create beautiful pieces of nature art. It was lovely to see children and parents sharing ideas, developing new skills, and making memories together.

After a delicious lunch, we headed down to the beach for some seaside fun, laughter, and fresh air. πŸ–οΈ

The whole day had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with families connecting, friendships growing, and everyone enjoying the chance to slow down and spend quality time together in nature.

A huge thank you to James Brunt for inspiring us to see the beauty and creativity all around us. πŸ’š

🌞 Week 6 Summer Round-Up! 🌞

Another fantastic week of summer adventures, with our Blue Influencers, Short Breaks, and Young Carers enjoying fun-filled days by the coast while learning how to care for our environment. πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

πŸ–οΈ Monday: Our Blue Influencers and Short Breaks groups headed to the beach for an exciting day of beach games, exploring the coastline, and learning about our oceans and why it's so important to protect them. The day also included a play at Zetland Park and, of course, a well-earned ice cream at Stray CafΓ©! 🍦

🌊 Wednesday: Our Blue Influencers and Young Carers enjoyed a similar seaside adventure, taking part in beach games, discovering more about marine environments, and discussing how small actions can help keep our oceans clean and healthy. The group also had fun at Zetland Park before finishing the day with an ice cream at Stray Café.

These trips provide so much more than a day out. They encourage young people to stay active, build confidence, make new friendships, and enjoy time outdoors while developing a greater understanding of the environment and how they can make a positive difference. For our young carers, they also offer a valuable opportunity to take a break from caring responsibilities, relax, and simply enjoy being young in a supportive and inclusive environment.

What a brilliant Week 6, full of laughter, learning, and making memories together! πŸ’™β˜€οΈ

Foundation Learning students at Redcar & Cleveland College have successfully completed their Blue Influencers project πŸŒ±πŸ’§

With support from the Ernest Cook Trust and the Fund, students have seen their ideas, research, and hard work come to life in a truly meaningful way.

As part of the project, they visited Cherry Hill Garden Centre, where they worked in small groups with their own budgets to carefully select plants for the college’s sensory garden 🌸🌿 Each group made thoughtful choices, considering plant positioning, hardiness, and environmental benefits.

Back at college, they put their knowledge into action by planting their selections and designing a sustainable space. The students also planned and incorporated natural water sources, including a water butt and a solar-powered water feature, with future plans to add rain guttering and a rain chain to collect water 🌧️

To celebrate their achievements, the group enjoyed a well-deserved trip to Saltburn Beach and Valley Gardens 🌊🌼 Taking in our fantastic local coastline, they rounded off the day with fish and chips and ice cream 🍦

A brilliant project showcasing teamwork, sustainability, and real-world skills – well done to all involved!

πŸŒŠπŸ’™ Blue Influencers x Young Adult Carers Collaboration πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

Our Blue Influencers and Young Adult Carers recently came together for an inspiring day at SEA LIFE Scarborough, combining fun, learning, and action to help protect our environment.

🐠 The group explored the amazing marine life at the aquarium, discovering more about our oceans and the importance of protecting the species that call them home.

🌍 Afterwards, everyone took part in a beach litter pick, helping to remove waste from the shoreline while discussing the impact of pollution on our seas and the simple actions we can all take to help keep our planet safe.

Opportunities like this are so valuable, giving young people the chance to connect with nature, learn about environmental issues, work together as a team, and make a real difference in their local environment. For our young adult carers, it also provided a chance to take a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities, meet new people, and enjoy a positive, meaningful day out.

A fantastic day of learning, teamwork, and making a positive impact, well done to everyone who took part! πŸŒŠβ™»οΈπŸ’™
