FISH Volunteer Centre

FISH Volunteer Centre Support and Transport for the Community, Sonning Common

What FISH can do for you:
 drive you to appointments;
 take your paper prescription to SCHC;
 collect/deliver your medication from SCHC and Day Lewis;
 phone you if you are in need of a chat;
 lend you talking books (although we could do with some more to lend out if anyone has some to spare);
 lend you jigsaw puzzles (we have quite a few but more are always welcome). The jigsaw puzzles and

talking books will be sanitized and kept for 3 days before they are lent out again. We are happy to deliver/collect if clients can’t get to the office.
 do small repairs to your home;
 run a FISH bus service for shopping trips
 FISH tea parties;
 often able to help with things not on our list – even if FISH doesn’t have a solution, it can usually find someone who has! Please tell us if there is anything else you think FISH might be able to help with that it doesn’t currently offer?

This week at FISH we are celebrating Volunteers’ Week by acknowledging the special contribution our caring and dedicated team of volunteers make. Their hard work and commitment enables us to support our local community here in Sonning Common and its surrounding villages. Whether driving our bus, transporting clients in their cars, visiting people in their homes, helping in the office, supporting our tea parties, or volunteering in any other capacity, their contribution makes a real difference every day.

We know our volunteers enjoy and get a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction in what they do. We would love to get more people in our village involved so please take a look at our great new website on https://fishvolunteers.org for more details about volunteering opportunities or call the FISH office on 0118 972 3986.

Coming very soon ….

Our great new website has been developed by local young man, Nathan Branch. Nathan grew up in Sonning Common where his parents are still Grove Road residents and actively involved in the community.

After attending Sonning Common primary school, Nathan went to Bluecoats, before starting his commercial experience in an Architectural practice combining architecture and graphic design, He is now in the final stages of a Master's degree in User Experience Design at the University of Bristol.

While studying, Nathan has started his own business and we are fortunate to be one of his early clients. Details of Nathan's work can be found here:https://studiozweig.com

FISH Trustee David Whitehead said "Nathan has been a joy to work with and we look forward to a long partnership".

The aim of the project was to improve people's fitness, both in body and mind, by encouraging them to use their local countryside for walking. It has now grown into a very successful scheme that has b...
