Katesgrove Community Association

Katesgrove Community Association (We are still looking for someone for the Secretary & Treasurer roles). We always want to encourage more residents to get involved.

We are very pleased that Katesgrove Community Association (KCA) currently has a committee made up of 9 local residents – every one of them getting involved when they can. KCA likes to hold events and groups throughout the year to encourage community growth; the more people who get involved with KCA will enable this to continue to happen.( Obviously due to Covid19, things are currently very differe

nt). We also aim to support the rights and interests of our community, Katesgrove Ward, by working in partnership with Reading Borough Council, Thames Valley Police and other agencies. We meet every two months – either in person or virtually – to discuss the local area and concerns of our neighbours, as well as great things we can do to support the character of Katesgrove and the residents of our ward! Our key focuses are:

Environmental issues – we host and help organise initiatives such as clean ups/litter picks and run a community allotment

Events and fundraising – organising & helping out with fayres, The Big Lunch, Christmas activities

Community outreach – keeping you up to date with newsletters, social media, etc

Crime – The Safer Neighbourhood Forum forms part of KCA and this could involve helping with specific issues that the police may be working on – or helping them with leaflet drops and encouraging reporting. If you have a preference as to what you would like to get involved with, please let us know [email protected].

A spectacular day at the allotment! Everything is looking good, and tonight’s rain will make everything even better. We have experimented with the tomatoes- will they survive the month of May without getting nipped by the cold? We shall see! And next week, we carry on- lots going on and all help is gratefully received! See you next Saturday!
