Wokingham Council are looking into putting life saving measures in place that can protect people walking, cycling and driving on the roads. A small reduction in speed that will add minutes to people’s journeys. The consultation is open until 1 May, please add your voice.

Too many people have been hit, hurt and killed on our roads. Moves like this are simple and with limited budgets a powerful step.

We want to improve road safety across the borough and are asking you to tell us where you think speed limits should be lowered.

We've done it! We (well mainly Vipul) got the insurance sorted for all the rides in the UK!

But it's more expensive, we saw rides go from around 15 to 40 after the insurance was sorted and start to fall with the turblance recently. It does make a difference. If you can please do donate.

Insurance for 2026-2027 will be £5280 for up to 60 Kidical Mass groups in the UK. This is for public liability and cover for our volunteers.

For the last couple of years there’s been this almost car free and child suitable route from Caversham into the town centre. A route we’ve successfully used for a number of rides.

But the barrier by the abbey ruins scuppered it. As a ride we got around it by carrying ramps to get bikes over a really high drop curve. Not so practical for the everyday rider.

In the background we started asking anyone and everyone to shorten the barrier to make the route usable. Apparently someone listened!

This is a brilliant route into the town which we highly recommend. Map will be added to the comments!

We're deeply sorry to hear of another traffic incident where a cyclist has been hurt or killed by a driver of a car. We're aware of 3 incidents in the last 3 weeks and our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends.

Valueing people’s lives shouldn’t be seen as a war on anything. Irresponsible reporting and creating issues where there needn’t be any doesn’t help.

Many people on bikes also drive a car, and ultimately providing towns, cities and villages that work for everyone has to be the aim.

As some of you may know Kat, one of our organisers, was one of Cycling UK 100 Women in Cycling in 2022 because of her work with Kidical Mass.

Following Cycling UK’s announcement that they won’t allow transwomen to be part of 100 Women in Cycling. Kat has declined her award, an award for women that doesn’t include all women isn’t something she wants to support.

We hope that Cycling UK will change it’s policy and that all groups associated with them use their voice to stand up to this injustice. Cycling is for everyone.

Cycling UK say the decision was made following legal advice but that the rule change "doesn't alter our commitment to transgender and non-binary people"
