Alana House is an innovative women’s community solution that uses a holistic approach to support women in Berkshire by empowering them to take control of their lives, make informed decisions and improve their life chances. Alana House Reading opened in April 2010, adopting the recommendations from the Corston Report, which identified the key criminogenic pathways for women and the different approa

ch needed to support them. Initially established to support women offenders in the community, Alana House has developed over the years to support vulnerable and distressed women with complex needs in Berkshire. If you use the Alana House services, please follow https://www.facebook.com/AlanaHouseCommunity to receive information about our regular groups and sessions.

Our CEO Natausha Van Vliet attended a two-day policy retreat focused on the critical national priority of tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG).

The event brought together influential stakeholders to help shape a national programme supporting the Government’s ambition to halve violence against women and girls.

Georgina is our incredible Supporter of the Month this April. ⭐

For over a year, Georgina has generously volunteered her time to run the weekly sewing group at Alana House, creating a welcoming space where women can connect, learn new skills and grow in confidence.

One of the group’s most recent projects is especially close to our hearts. They’ve been creating an eye-catching banner for PACT supporters to take to this year’s London Marathon, helping Team PACT runners spot their cheer squad on the day. It’s a wonderful way for a little part of Alana House to be there in London, cheering our runners on.

Thank you Georgina for giving your time and skills to Alana House. 🥰

As a little bonus, swipe to the last slide to see an amazing wall hanging that one of our Alana House women has made! 🐺

PACT welcomes the news that the Ministry of Justice UK has pledged £31.6 million to help women’s services deliver specialist, trauma-informed support for women involved in the criminal justice system.

This investment follows an independent report from the Women’s Justice Board which recommends community-based alternatives to custody to help women address the root causes of their offending.

As part of the announcement, Minister of State for Prisons, Probation and Reducing Reoffending, Lord James Timpson visited PACT's award-winning women’s community project Alana House to meet staff and service-users and hear first-hand about the transformative impact of the project.

The women's stories highlighted the power of specialist women’s centres in breaking down barriers, preventing reoffending and enabling lasting change.💜

💬 Natausha van Vliet, PACT's CEO said: “This long-awaited funding into women’s centres is a vital step. At Alana House we know that trauma‑informed community support empowers women to achieve stability and rebuild their lives.”

Tomorrow is and the theme for this year is . 💜 The day encourages individuals and organisations to contribute time, knowledge and resources to create a more supportive and interconnected world for women.

Kathryn, PACT's Director of Communities Services and Development, has been reflecting on the day and all the incredible women we support here at PACT.

💬 "We are proud to stand with women at every stage of their journey, whether they are rebuilding after trauma, strengthening bonds with their children, seeking a fresh start or choosing to open their homes and hearts through adoption."

📱Do you use the NHS app?

Healthwatch Wokingham Borough and Healthwatch Reading would like to hear from local residents. They are collecting anonymous feedback to understand how people in Reading and Wokingham Borough experience or miss out on digital healthcare services.

The findings will be shared with NHS England to help tackle digital exclusion and improve support for NHS App users. 💜 They welcome feedback from anyone who uses the NHS App regularly, occasionally or not at all.
