We were delighted to attend a special ceremony last week celebrating 13 exceptional voluntary organisations from across Berkshire who have been nominated for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) this year.
Hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire Andrew Try, the event brought together the nominated organisations, Civic Dignitaries, Deputy Lieutenants, and nominators to recognise the extraordinary contribution volunteers make to communities across the county.
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to voluntary groups in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE. It recognises the exceptional contribution of groups of volunteers who give their time, skills, and dedication to improving the lives of others.
We were particularly proud to have nominated Christian Community Action (CCA) Ministries, Enrych Berkshire, Reading Pride, and The Cowshed, all of whom provide invaluable support to residents across Reading.
Speaking following the event, John Sykes commented, “It was such a privilege to attend the KAVS nominations ceremony and to catch up with the wonderful organisations nominated across Berkshire. It was particularly special to see four organisations that we have nominated recognised for the incredible contribution they and their volunteers make to our communities.
“I would like to wish all of the nominated organisations the very best of luck ahead of the announcement on the King’s birthday, 14th November. Whatever the outcome, being nominated for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is a tremendous achievement and a fitting recognition of the dedication, compassion, and commitment of the volunteers behind these wonderful organisations.”
